Winter Tires

For what it's worth, we had a pretty good snowstorm in Chicago yesterday, and the Dunlop MP3 WInter Sport tires performed very well. Good grip, braking, and handling, quiet running in dry weather. Having these tires on the W211 is a vast improvement over last year's white knuckle drives in the snow in my 740i Sport w/ standard Michelin performance tires.

I agree completely, hopefully your snowstorm won't be heading my way - but I'm prepared with the same setup

Yikes! I had too drove from Michigan to Chicago last night. What a nightmare on the pilot sports on my 210. I never thought the handling would be that poor. My next call will be to tire rack for a winter package tonight. It's that or buy the honey an ml.

Pbglas- Very well- need a judicious foot on the throttle (as always) to avoid spin- seem to spin a bit easier than stock tires. All in all, though, a great investment, takes a lot of the worry out of winter driving. It really is amazing to compare a drive in light snow/slush with standard performance tires and then w/ winter tires. BTW, I bought AMG wheels with the tires from Tire Rack (Luke).

Tire rack no long lists a "package" for my w210 application. I would like to use my current rims and purchase a new look for the summer. Is there a downside to using the stock 2 size front and rear wheels in a winter application with the m3s?
Thanks,
Adam

Thanks MRW. As you know, even the stock tires spin quite a lot!

No, that is what I am doing. Typically the narrower the tire the better, as you want to split the snow with a narrow tire and not compact it with a wide tire, but anything below a 265 tire (which is what I run in the rear) should be ok.

I drove my car this morning with the stock dunlops through the remnants of this weekends storm, and the only thing that really suffered was turning/handling. Making a left hand turn into some snow the car somewhat hesitated to turn and went forward, but I was able to control it.
