Lost 4-5mph in 1/4 with ec tune vs old let tune why?
I have a customer that use to go 11.5's at 119-120mph with an old school LET tune now with eurocharged Remote tune he lost 4-5mph and dropped to a 12.0 .... Only change in car is he went from a set of vrp shorties to a set of evosport shorties and retuned with eurocharged remote tune. My question is the newer eurocharged remote tune more conservative then the older LET send your ecu in tune? He's not happy and believes it's the tune please help!!!!

Both box tunes..The Let tune the ecu was sent in and the eurocharged tune was done with the remote tune with no dyno for either. I'm not so happy either I went a best 12.05 @ 115mph w/ 1.7 60' my mods are 180mm lower, kleemann headers no cats or resonater, 82mm tb, 550's- w/ looped rail , bwk and some cooling mods.. I figured a 11.50's at 120-122. I also have the same eurocharged remote tune and I have some suspensions now

with pulley changes adding headers, heck even stock set ups if your going to be going down a track beating on a car without data logging a tune before hand, is foolish.

I couldn't agree more...better check some other possible issues.
I have to agree 100%. I just got my E55 and while I have stepped on the gas hard, (egged on by friends to run them, I couldn't resist), I am data logging it today to be sure all parameters are fine...Especially after reading the 56k mile car that blew the #8 cylinder! It is the first thing that we all should be doing!

LOL. yeah... BUT... to be clear. The car now has 90K miles. It had 56K miles when the previous owner posted the new tune on this forum. I think there were other things at play here now that I'm tearing down the motor. I now have more questions than answers, but the previous owner hasn't responded yet.

Although the change in the headers and tune seem minimal, there are a TON of other factors that could have attributed to the loss of MPH.
First, do you have the old and new times slips. How was the weather between the two days? Did you look at live data on the old run vs the new run?

Craig --- yes he has time slips... Retuned then went to his local 1/8 ( made probably 30-40 passes there over the years and all very consistent) and noticed the difference right away on the slips, no dataloging but I'm working on that... The weather conditions were better on the "slower" passes with temps being in the mid 70's and the "faster" passes were made at 85-90.. He has time slips from the past 4 years all being 11.60's to 11.80's @ 117-119.... Now 12.00's @ 113-114mph now with current tune.... I myself have the same "box" tune and we are side by side the whole track... Same setup with the difference me having 82mm to and 550's . Needless to say I was disappointed on my first outing I cut 1.7 60' so it's not like I'm gonna pick up .5 on the back end going to a 1.6 60'.... I'm only picking up 20mph in the final 1/8 mile of the track

How long ago was the last time it ran the higher MPH? How many miles are on the car? Are the plugs/wires/fuel pumps and fuel filters original? If they are, change all them before going any further.
Do a compression test. Specifically compare #8 cylinder to one from the opposing bank and see if there's a difference.

Can he at least tell if the old tune had higher revs ? Maybe new tune lowered revs to stock shifting points, some tunes increase shifting points which if lowered would give a partial reason to lower mph but 4-5 mph is huge but again no data your in the dark
