Yes in my experience with my old turbo car e85 was more trouble than good. I guess I was unlucky.
From here on out its Rec 90 over anything ethanol.

Ethanol is not the problem.

BTW - Petrol is quite low in octane. Ethanol (Alcohol), MBTE, and other things like Toluene are used to up the octane. The second two are VERY bad.
Alcohol is NOT. Which is what ETOH (Ethanol) is.

No biggie ill stick to what works for me.
Rec90 is safe for automotive use, read up on it.
The difference in smell alone is a no brainer, 93 octane unleaded smells like shiot, rec90 smells like oil.. Do whatever's good for yourselves.

Honestly, it's that same spirit that sparks us E-85 lovers. It's a good thing. Thinking out of the box and using what works best for us.

If your stations have consistent E85 which needs to be tested everytime you fill up imo, that is major. Also, if you live in a cold winter climate and plan to start the car, you better get a heater blanket for the tank. Atlanta by no means sees super cold temps, and my e55 simply would not start when temps dipped into the lower 40's. The fuel got too gel like, and started burning up my pumps. It also melted the plug faster than the normal tsb issue we have. One more thing to consider is you cant just drive anywhere, as you may not get E85 at gas stations that state they have it. Down here it would sell out constantly.
My fuel system at the time consisted of:
1000cc injectors
340lph fuel pumps
looped fuel rail
I did not see any major corrosion from running the corn, and having over 700rwtq with a 188mm pulley was nice. After running it for over 2yrs, there is no way in hell I would do it again lol. I would much rather run 93 pump, have a nice meth kit setup and run close to 100% meth to bump the octane all the way up. Maybe 90/10 meth/water mix and run a small 50-75 wet shot for extra cooling. That is what I do now and love the setup, as you dont have to worry about re-fueling. Another thing is tuning on 1000cc injectors with our ECU's is not easy. The car will not run oem smooth, just as a fyi.

I like the idea of running almost 100% methanol I would love to do that on my setup but what are some of the effects from it? most likely car will need be tuned?

Jesus Christ!! Why are these damn ECUs so sh*t?!! Is it possible to use an aftermarket ECU and still retain all the other features of the car like ESP etc? MoTeC makes some really good ECUs. I don't know jack sh*t about this stuff. Can someone simplify it for a dummy like me

E85 stopped engine ping on W204
Just wondering who here is running E85 what mods are you running for your fuel setup? any issues? I'm looking into switching to e85, I have the AEM 340lph fuel pumps which allow for e85, have bigger injectors and looped fuel rail would I need anything else to run e85? Thanks

My 2013 W204 started pinging with Chevron 91 Oct. I tried the Chevron with Techron fuel system cleaner 3 times and no improvement. Looked at my fuel cap and said also takes E85. On the way home the pings have stopped and car is peppier. Current E85 price is $2.00/g.
I just wanted those who have the newer direct injection engine to know you can benefit from E85. I wish I would have known sooner.
