Anyone with a Carmax Warranty with mods?
So I have a friend whose e55 had their alternator and idler pullies croak out.
The problem is that he has long tubes and has eliminated the primary cat.
Do you guys know if Carmax would send an inspector for something like this or would it be best to swap the stock manifolds back on?
TIA for any info

Generally if a repair is under $500 they will not require a inspection. With that being said extended warranty companys will cancel a contract if the modifications were reported by the inspector.

alternator and idler pulleys wouldn't really be affected by headers... but like the others have said, warranties can be yanked at a moments notice - hard to fight

bosch alternator is about $200 or less, and idler pulleys get from shardul for $300 or less. Labor tack on a couple hours. Maybe have your friend take to an indy to get this done.

I don't feel like searching, but a few months ago a guy started a thread about his warranty getting denied because of his headers. He had gone in to get a rear main seal replaced, and the inspector saw his headers, blamed them since they are right next to the bell housing, and wouldn't file his claim. Even though we all know aftermarket headers would probably do nothing to affect the integrity of a rear main seal.
