My guess would be the extra 600lbs and only 30 more hp. But most turbos will out pull up high. Couple of runs were close. Too close to traffic for my taste

Heart rate went up just watching the last run. Aside from that, I think if both cars got a tune, the v12 would come out on top.

Something up with the E55, it seems faster than it appears. The first two races it goes like a bat and the third race the S600 jumps the gun by a lot.
Based on MotorTrend who are fairly conservative yet consistent on their timings:
2003 S600
0-60 MPH: 4.5 Seconds
1/4 Mile: 12.8 Seconds @ 114 MPH
2003 E55
0-60 MPH: 4.4 Seconds
1/4 Mile: 12.7 Seconds @ 114 MPH
Based on MotorTrend who are fairly conservative yet consistent on their timings:
2003 S600
0-60 MPH: 4.5 Seconds
1/4 Mile: 12.8 Seconds @ 114 MPH
2003 E55
0-60 MPH: 4.4 Seconds

Wow that races were insane... the only thing worse than that race was when the two crazy guys on the russian "autobahn" near moscow raced with an Audi RS6 vs. an M5? Or something like that... wait i find it:

Because the driver of the S600 did the classic honk horn three times real fast and go before the E55 knows what is happening. The S600 basically "cheated".

That is correct. The E55 started later than the S600 on the third race, but was able to stay even without dropping back, even with the late start. In the first two races, he pulls ahead on the launch, then stays steady once at speed.

The biturbo with a tune is a.monster. A stock or tuned e55 doesn't have a chance on the roll. I picked up over 125 rwhp with just a tune on my old 600.

reminded me of a race I was a sitting passenger in back years ago...it was raining & hailing and my buddy was revving his b16 civic in traffic, when some baller in a Jaguar XK8 pulled up on us, revved his car, rolled his window down & reached into his pocket & pulled a 4inch wad of $100 bills out of his pocket, threw it in his windshield and told us "If you can beat me it's all yours!". My buddy punched it, I remember the guard rail whizing past the passenger window @ 90mph he beat dude so bad, when we looked back he was a exit behind LOL....he exited at the next one, we were too far ahead to chase him down. I only wish now we filmed it(1998 no camera phones)...back on subject.

That was nuts reminded me of a race I was a sitting passenger in back years ago...it was raining & hailing and my buddy was revving his b16 civic in traffic, when some baller in a Jaguar XK8 pulled up on us, revved his car, rolled his window down & reached into his pocket & pulled a 4inch wad of $100 bills out of his pocket, threw it in his windshield and told us "If you can beat me it's all yours!". My buddy punched it, I remember the guard rail whizing past the passenger window @ 90mph he beat dude so bad, when we looked back he was a exit behind LOL....he exited at the next one, we were too far ahead to chase him down. I only wish now we filmed it(1998 no camera phones)...back on subject.
