e55 w211 keeps shredding and throwing belts off
My e55 w211 keeps shredding and/or throwing belts off the supercharger, i have replaced the tensioner and the idle pulley and also fitted a belt wrap kit but the problem keeps happening. The last belt i tried was a k080545 as this was recommended by eurocharged uk to be the right size.
Please if someone has any suggestions i would appreciate it
I'm running a 172mm crank pulley also
thanks

Thanks for the replies.
The problem was there before i replaced anything it happened a few times when i first bought the car but only every 3-4months but now it happens every time without fail.
there are no visible chunks out of the pulleys and wobble is minimal maybe 1mm either side but its the same on all of them and they are all new now apart from supercharger and crank
thanks

The crank pulley was on the car when I bought it the rest I have done myself. I've had a mercedes specialist look at it also he said the same that something was out of line but couldn't say what.

The stock tensioner is for a stock pulley set up, the shock on the tensioner is now exaggerated and is not stiff enough to maintain proper tension on the system. There are a few videos where you can see the movements that the tensioner is subjected to and the amount of angle position difference. IMO

The crank pulley is not aligned with the other pulleys. The belt is hopping over the edge. My EC pulley had the same issue. I went back to stock and never had an issue since.

I understand what your saying about the tensioner but would have thought it would be a more wide spread issue if that was the case. But also I would have thought eurocharged would do some kind of recall
If they'd sold faulty products.

Yes understood it could be the alignment of the pulleys in general or play in the idlers but to get a belt jumping it must go "loose" at some point in operation. I notice that Weistec does include a tensioner in their kit, although it may be a stock item, I doubt it is,
Pick up a dollar store laser for key chain use and align the laser up with two opposite sides of a available pulley and direct the light to all others this may assist with the alignment if they are indeed in line.

An out of alignment pulley will shred belts period...tight or not. its not rocket science. Feel free to throw money at other things. I went through the same problem before I figured out what was going on

Holy SMOKES! that tensioner on that Camaro is being put to work! lol Only thing I would recommend, is maybe putting a new belt on, and then running it a bit and then removing it to inspect any abnormal wear spots, may be able to narrow it down that way.
