boost gauge engine hookup??

I have experience with a few cars that have had forced induction and hooking up a boost gauge to the engine hasn't been a problem in the past. Every vacuum line I tee into will not show any boost on the gauge that I have. Yes, the gauge is good as I tested it on my supercharged Tahoe and it works fine. A few of the places I tried are the vacuum source at the back of the engine near the throttle body, the vacuum line near the fuel rail under the engine cover, and the vacuum line at the electric solenoid that sits on the passenger valve cover. All of these places will show vacuum at idle and the needle stops at "0" at wide open throttle when boost should appear. Does AMG put some sort of check valve in these vacuum lines? Any help here would be appreciated.

When you get the answer let me know, i have had the same problem. The vaccum lines all seem to have a check valve that appear to render them useless for anything but vacuum only readings.

I am not sure about the E55, however on my CL55 there is a check fitting on the top of Y pipe. The check fitting is convered by a rubber closed ended hose. If you have this too, pop it off and hook up your gauge there. See if that works for you as I beleive it should.

Are you referring to the rubber covered fitting on the top right hand corner (facing the car) of the supercharger? if so this reads vaccum only, as does the vaccum line next to it.

I had the same issue

My C32 had the same issue. Every line I tried to tap only created vacuum and none showed any boost. After doing some on-line research (if you can call it that) I realized that you need to take the y pipe off the car, drill a hole in it, and insert your own boost pressure gauge into the hole. The person did a very clean installation on this SLK32 but I did not feel like pulling the y pipe off and drilling a hole in it simply to see how much boost the car makes.

Being that the V6Komressor motor and the V8Kompressor motors are very similar, I venture th guess that there is no factory blower check valve. Let me know if you do find one being that I would like to put a boost gauge on my new E55 now that the C32 has left the building.

CynCarvin32,

Do you have a e55 now?

That is too bad I am sure you will be missed at c32life

I was considering trading up to an e55 as well. How do you like it especially in handling compared to the c32. Mine will have bilstein's on it shortly so that should improve greatly.

I am going to try and get more power out of my c32 because i really like the looks and the platform and I think the chassis is pretty good

So as not to completely go off topic. Does anybody know if the sl55 y pipe can accomodate a boost gauge. I am planning on putting the SL55 intake into the c32 and I know there is some room which I have to use special clamps for. I was wondering if I can fit a boost guage in during this install.

What do you think?
