I would pay just for the whine itself!!!!!!! But anyway just figured it out! Pulled a twin screw from the shelf and turned it over. Very tight and "firm"rotors meshing together. Go out to my car ...spins free like there is no load. So when engine is at idle the rotors are bouncing off each other so to speak ....and there is your noise. The Mustang blower has very tight "teflon" coated tip rotors and is a tight clearance so no noise but a whine when running. Hope this helps because it answered my question about the rattle.

It seems like every other day I see a new post about the clutched 83/84mm pulley exploding or failing. However, I have not seen anything bad posted about the clutchless pulleys.

Have any of these broken yet or are they pretty bulletproof when compared to the frail clutched design?

I dont believe there are any parts of it to fail. Its just a solid piece of aluminum...

Great Vid. Wow.... would you say the car is much quicker now compared to the stock pulley?
That sound at idle is ugly... damn... no way to fix this? What is the technical reason for that sound by the way?

Well the supercharger wasn't designed to be on at idle. The sound is normal with the FSP. I'm sure it isn't normal for a mustang but they were probably already non clutched to start with

I have the same setup and also have same sound coming from supercharger. I only hear it when I put it into gear but when its idling in park I don't hear it.

My supercharger has been rattling like that, too. It has always made some noise, but seems to be louder now than before.

I have a known good supercharger on it's way to me right now, thanks to super awesome JCJMW. When I swap the units, I will know if this noise is normal or not.

Any trick to installing the resistor? Seems like it wouldn't stick in tightly to the harness. Did you use any tips/wire plugs?

fold the little legs over and it fits pretty snug

And wouldn't you have to change the belt since the original one is gonna be too long? Which belt is recommended after installing 77mm fsp? Excuse me for being such a novice lol

Maybe, assuming you're replacing a clutched pulley that was a different size? If so, I don't know for sure, but search, answers are here...belt size wont matter between fsp and clutched

Maybe message shardul and ask him. I have a belt wrap kit or I'd tell you what my belt is.

Hi, if that is the real reason for the rattling sound, how long will the rotors last with a fixed Supercharger Pulley, if the charger wasnt made for for idle speeds in the first place?
The vast majority of time i drive gentle, very low RPMs in City, often around 1000RPM (slightly above idle). Wouldnt that damage the rotors over time if they arent meant for that low speeds.-

Please tell the lenghts with BWK for the 77mm pulley.
Can you tell it in mm?
Because here in Germany all Belt manufacturers have a Part-Number encrypted like for instance "8PK2450" for a Gates Belt. The "8" is the amount of ribs, the "2450" is the length in mm. "PK" is IIRC the Material and Type of belt.

In the US its completely different i see.

Also from talking with other guys very experienced with these types of blowers you can help eliminate that noise by running the by pass valve a little closed to put an "air" pressure cushion against the rotors. In other words the rotors are "pushing" against air pressure at idle and will put a slight load on them to keep them from bouncing against each other. That would have to be done with the tune but would think is very easy.No harm or extra heat really because its only at idle.

^That makes sense to me.

I have been running the fixed pulley for over a year now and the only issues have been with getting the tune ironed out. the supercharger only seems noisy at idle/light load, but honestly, I wouldn't be able to hear it while on the gas anyways.

I may be using my current supercharger for scientific purposes. I'm going to ship it to someone who will take it apart, inspect the rotors and bearings for wear/damage, and then see what can be done to make it as good as or better than new.

I was so exited about FSP, but if makes that kinda noise at idle then im out I HATE the sound these make when the oilpump chain tensioner fails and now that im taking care of that theres no way im going to install something that makes even more noise.

IF that is really the case, i hope a tuner listens so he can close the bypass flap a bit during idle.

Exactly this :-) Its totally Mercedes non-alike when you drive by with the car and it make the click di clack rattling sounds...

I'm bumping this just to say that I'm experiencing the same thing. Idling in park or neutral and it makes the noise. As soon as I bring the revs up past 1k, the noise is completely gone.

Does anyone know if the bypass valve can be manipulated via STAR while the engine is on? If so, I'd like to see if closing it in increments will make it go away while at idle. There is no indication that anything is wrong while actually driving.

I have no idea if that is possible... I have my car not available here currently, other wise i would check for it.
You should really get in contact with Jerry from Eurocharged as he can really adjust the flap, as we can read in the other topic "latest greatest FSP tune by eurocharged".
If he can solve that rattling noise also, the FSP Tune would be complete and actually should be free of complaints, right?

Denroll, did you experienced that "2000RPM issue" (timing retard when ECU thinks SC clutch kicks in), that the other guy was talking about in the above mentioned thread/topic?
To be honest it was the first time i ever read about it.
