i was driving ex wife's ford fusion the other day (ooo what fun!) and noticed that the stereo, while sounding like crap had a nice back up camera, read my texts to me, seamlessly connected to my phone, did a whole bunch of stuff rather simply including letting me use the most current traffic stuff from my phone. nice and simple. i bet the current command system does something like that too. anyway, it got me thinking. is there some good replacement for the command system in my car (2007 e63 with Harmon Kardon)? the back up camera's a big deal because i did a high side at sears point (now infineon race way) a long time ago and can't turn my neck very much so i am kind of stuck to looking in the mirrors. any help would be cool. thanks!

i read numerous places that they were junk. are they not? also with the HK system, i have to do some stuff with bypassing a fiber optic system or disposing of it entirely? is there a newer command system with which i can just do a plug and play?

 

for the price they are not that bad considering if you get the MOST adapter it 90 percent plug and play

 

If you have HK then the only plug and play solution is dynavin (I believe it works with fiber).

You can upgrade to 2009 NGT 2.5, except since you have HK it's a ton of work and costly too.

I would recommend Dynavin, or simply rip everything out and install after market head unit (you'll also need to install external amp). Good luck.

decided not to try to chance it. i found that you can save a bundle already by buying the dynavin 99+ with the maps and the MOST adapter for $499 by the US distributor directly. why screw around? $100 less than on ebay AND you get the maps AND the harness. so, i'll give it a try. the guy who runs the place also told me about how to do it as well. doesn't sound very difficult. we shall see, huh? maybe i'll post some pics. anyone care? the car is an e63 wagon. i am changing the front speakers too.

i'd really like to put a big assed convex race mirror in the car and be done with it but you know, high beams, lights, map lamps, stuff like that. gotta grow up. a bit. sometimes.

so, you being a super duper moderator and all of that. if i sell all of the other guts: blue tooth, nav, command, fiber optic amplifier, HK speakers, HK amp, HK sub. do it here first? which forum? someone has to be deserving of this rather than someone (um) non-deserving (think of some uglier terms) on ebay. of course, i could just keep it but i have no desire to EVER sell the car so even if the stereo's not "correct"...
