water issues with vent removal

Anyone remove the under hood plastic cover that covers the hood vent? I have popped it off at one point and a huge amount of hot air will come out when the fan is on especially in the summer when the engine is heat soaked.
Don't know about the water being directed away during heavy rain but do not see it draining on anything important and it does drain to the left and right side of the cowl. Any one remove it with success?

Many of us have removed it. I have never felt to see what comes out. I would imagine it works quite well. No issues with water going to wrong places so far for me.

It's an engine, not a computer.

Anything sensitive to water is very well sealed to begin with.

I removed mine. Makes the supercharger MUCH louder. However the throttle body is subjected to water (rain, washing, etc). Make a little cover for the TB and your all set.

Wut?
Wasn't me. I've had that engine blanket and vent removed for two years with no problems. It does allow a little more noise to escape, but some of that noise is the good kind of noise.

I had mine removed since 2007. Never an issue. I do see heat waves escaping thru those hood vents.

Since the fresh air a/c intake is right there at the bottom of the windshield, any problems with fumes from the engine compartment getting into the cabin?

Nope. With the cover removed it actually vents more fumes if there were any. At a standstill there is a massive amount of heat escaping from my engine bay through the hood vents.

This is from what I have experienced

I took my bonnet blanket and bonnet scoop plastic off half way through summer (December-Jan), logging IAT's the entire time before and after removal my IAT's have dropped 1-2 degrees Celsius, the additional whine you get coming through now is worth the 10 minute removal

The only catch I have is sometimes on a really hot day, when you have your windows down and you come to a stop and the fan switches on, you can get a blast of heat that plumes past the drivers window (face area) and up around the windscreen area (right hand drive E55 here)

It's all staying off on mine that's for sure

definitely worth the time to remove the blanket and plastic tray. I never had any issues during the rain season here in Ga.
