ATTENTION: Any NYC/Long Island 55k owners...
...taken your E55 to the dealer yet? I tried getting some info from the sticky from the locals but no response. I made an app. @ Helms Brothers in Bayside but not sure what to expect. I have never taken my car to the dealer since I have owned it because i do all the work myself. I am extremely weary of dealers because I don't trust any of them especially with this rocket.
Does anyone recommend anywhere i can take it or deal with a specific SA? I have no problem greasing the SA just to get the most out of this recall. I never changed the fuel filter/pumps because I have never had any issues. It would be cool to get it all done at no out of pocket expense. Please let me know guys.

would love to know what you come up with on this. I've yet to bring my car to the dealership also..after spending 10 mins talking to the guys at the parts counter & a random tech over at the Roslyn dealership, I skipped my appt. no way I was leavning my car with them. ..always just planned to bring it bruce @ ttm if I needed anything done that I can't do myself.

I've used White Plains Mercedes in the past. I haven't reached out to them yet pertaining to the fuel issue? I'll hit up a tech over there first, before I make my appointment. I trust this tech, to the point that I wish he would take the car for a spin.
At this point I'm in no hurry - I can't stand the roads too many pot holes, salt/sand. I can wait.

Is there an bulletin # or recall # or anything like that that the dealer can reference to look this info up? I'm waiting on a response from my cousin who is a tech at a dealer out east on L.I. I just asked him to check to see if there are any recalls or if anyone has brought there car in for this issue. I also gave him the vin to my car to check all recalls & bulletins. Will provide an update as soon as I know.

When i called Helms Brothers, I spoke to a SA and once he pulled my VIN, he knew exactly about the tank. I then asked him about the filters and pumps and he said it doesnt state anything like that. I told him that im on the forums with hundreds of owners and they are getting the pumps and filters replaced as well. He responded by saying I'd have to bring the car in and have them look at that before they can decide. God only knows. i might just cancel my app for Feb 27 and just wait till the weather gets better. Like you said, roads have craters in them and dont feel like blowing our tires and cracking rims over something that is covered till 2019.

Just got an update from my cousin. Apparently there is an extended warranty on the fuel tank. Any kind of pump failure or anything like that warrants the replacement of the tank, pump and everything in it. He also said that the updated tanks have common problems with leaking issues. The guys at his place said not to do the replacement unless absolutely necessary because of this.
Also the pump in my car was replaced in 2008 under an apparent recall, still waiting to hear what that recall was....

Speaking of the horrible roads, this happened a week ago on the way to give the car a bath, luckily they were able to be repaired and not a shimmy or vibration.

Bumping this up for any additional info on independent or knowledgeable MB service centers in the NY area. I do most of my work but looking to do some stuff under warranty (carmax) since it's paid for anyway.
