I'm switching teams from Audi to MB. You can program and customize many things on the Audi. For example, my S4 is programmed to have the gauges do a needle sweep upon start up. No seatbelt chime, Brake lights, when the ABS kicks in go into a rapid flashing mode that would be difficult to miss.

My doors all unlock with a single push of the fob. You use a device called a Vag Com. You hook it into the OBD port. You also can read and reset fault codes.

Now to my question, what and how can you customize the Mercedes? What are the most common things to program?

 

You may want to post these questions in the 212 AMG forum. But there is no device to plug in that will do what the Audi unit did. Some coding can be changed with Xentry,

 

You will need to post in W212 forum. This is W211. I have Audi, Merc and BMW. DAS/Xentry is equivalent (but much more powerful) of VAGCOM or Progman/GT1 DIS (BMW). Not sure what can be coded on W212 but there is a ton of stuff that can be programmed/coded on W211 and other models with DAS/Xentry system. Good luck
