Stuck Key
I have had my 2004 E55 since December 27 and have driven it only sparingly due to business trips -- only 627 miles to date.
Yesterday, I pulled into a parking spot and found, to my dismay and displeasure, that I could not extract my key from the ignition, nor could I turn off the electrical system. A call to MB's roadside service was worthless; they had not previous incidents of this nature.
It turned out that a plug in the steering column which locks it when the gear shift is in park had somehow pulled apart; ergo, the key could not be removed. A senior mechanic at Mercedes Benz -- San Francisco found the problem, which was not easily diagnosed.
Hopefully, none of you will suffer this "malady", but I wanted to let everyone know -- just in case.
