Second Fun Car - Life Dilemma
So I'm getting to the point where I'm looking to get a second 'fun' car--probably in the next 12-18 months--but I'm thinking about it now, of course. Budget is no more than $100K.
I don't think I want it to be a Benz, so CLK Black, C Black are out. Haven't thought much about an SLS, but I'm assuming they are over my budget. I think R8's are going to be more (don't want a V8--would want the V10) so what am I left with...?
My finalists are:
997.2 911TT
F360? Think F430s will be more than my budget
Viper
Don't think I could get myself to buy a 'Vette, despite how great the C7 Z06 is
Use will be weekend drives/trips with the occasional HPDE day. I would probably 'lightly' mod, but nothing crazy.
Any options that I'm missing? Any suggestions? The P-car is in the lead right now.

Get a Aston Martin DB9, DBS or a Vantage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You will get more stares from the right people (not the gallardo crowd), will get way more respect than the Beetle Crowd (joke on 911) and have a car that is very reliable, easy to maintain, and really fun to drive. Will cost less to maintain than both of those others, the Lambo by a long shot. I gotta friend with a 07' DB9 that would be about the best you could find, rare car, and I promise you likely wouldn't see another for weeks or months at a time. I am posting his thread for it. Another if you PM me who is motivated to sell on a 05' DB9 with less than 20k miles on it. Both are maintained perfectly, documented, and are worth what they are asking. Here is the link on 6speed for Sunir's 07. He is very much like Shardul on here. So that speaks to the quality. AM would be my first choice hands down. Done enough research for it and looked at the two mentioned, plus a Bentley CGT (very nice also, loved it for a week but grew tired of it due to size)

Also you mentioned Ferrari's. A nice 360 can be had for 70 to 100 pending year and also a F40 for 90-120 pending year, miles etc..... However, even though the 360 on up, has way reduced maintenance than the older belt ones, the clutches still need to be replaced fi driven and those are expensive. Same for the gallardo. If you have not driven a F1 type manual automatic paddle shifting car you are in for not so much of a treat. They really are a pain unless you get into the double clutch types. My Maserati had one, and its the same one just not tweaked as much as the ferrari's . It sucked and I got tired of it. Pending how you drive them, and that has nothing to do with driving hard, the clutches wear out sometimes within 10k miles. AM Vantage V8 Sportshift is the same way. You would only want a 6-speed normal clutch in that car. Only one AM makes that way. Some people get 35k miles then a 6-8k clutch job, others have replaced in 8k miles. reverse up a hill will kill them fast. Like below, toasted clutch

I say Porsche 911, easy to maintain, not to flashy like the other choices, and a great car to DD, oh, and I have some really nice HRE's from my 997 911 to sell you
good luck

I would say if you want "fun" then you have to consider a ride that will be reliable, RELATIVELY reasonable to maintain and won't kick you in the wallet when you decide to sell for another sexy ride that caught your eye.
Lots of sexy and fast cars out there, but few that will start every time you want them to, doesn't cost $10K for brakes and won't depreciate 40% in three years. None of these scenarios is fun!
In other words, Porsche.
Have you driven a Cayman?
