Methanol injection

Methanol injection
Hey guys. Quick question.
Me (e55) and a friend of mine (e63 weistec charged) are planning to install meth injection to cool intake temps and not get timing pulled towards the top.
Being in georgia, the actual juice is hard to get and frankly such a pain in the *** that its not worth it. So, if we use medical spirit 96.6% alcohol 50/50 with water what negative effects ar we looking at? Is it gn be bad in any way for the engine? Should we use jsut 100% alcohol or even 100% water just to cool? Octain bump isnt the primary concern ar this point.
Thanks

Great review there... already with very small injection, a reducing of 33 degrees in IAT. WOW that potential is huge.
Tune needs to be adjusted as they say or we 55AMG users "only" use it for colder IATs?

Hulk is providing good information
I run 9:1 distilled water to HEET on a CM10 post blower. The 10% methanol is only used because on the CM10 nozzle, I get a slight bog on shifts... If I pulled the blower and swapped for a CM7, I'd run 100% water

I use the AEM kit. Two of the smallest nozzles in the surge tanks. Set to kick on at fairly low boost. I'll have to look. I'll likely do a trunk tank soon though. At the track my IATs start around 110. Even with the meth it's difficult to keep it under 145-150 on a run starting at 110. I need a way to start much lower. She's at least very consistent with the meth.

^^^ This. Your cylinders are running cooler but your sensor is not seeing that drop in temp so its retarding timing. My guess is your only benefit spraying post IAT is reduced knock retard and how substantial that is depends on the quality of fuel in your gas tank.

Yessir. It's easy to get a big number in these cars with ice and some cold weather. Doing it twice within a few minutes is a whole different story. It's really the biggest advantage NA cars have over these cars.
