Anybody have any real world feed back for longtube headers on e63?
Im thinking about going this route and im trying to hack through some of the hype and get real world impressions from those of you who have gone with this option. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Best mod I've done to my car hands down. I have a C63 though but not much is different other than the size of the car.
Everyday driving is not affected by the long tubes. Most people dont noticed a drone in my car or anything of that sort. The only thing that I noticed, being catless, is the smell that it produces when stopped or running the car hard. Unburnt gasoline can sometimes be a bit noxious but I dont really notice it too much unless im standing outside the car while its idling or i have the windows down in a drive thru. When driving the car hard- its a complete blast and pulls so much harder than before.
Ive got some videos on youtube that give you an idea about sound and performance.
Performance wise
Stock with drop in filters - 380whp
Long Tube Headers/Tune/ROW Airboxes/Spark Plugs/Filters 481whp

Yes, same Dynodynamics dyno. Its not uncommon to gain 40whp from just a tune alone. A tune with a catless long tube header setup with ROW airboxes and aFe pro dry filters has seen 90-110whp gains from stock. With my aggressive vp109 tune ive broken 506whp.
Add in some giggle juice and I dyno'd 580whp .

Those are some impressive gains. Car sounds beast! I'm sitting at 420 now with stock air boxes and a ton of crap in the air box and filthy k&n's. (should have checked that before the dyno test)I recently added ROW air boxes and cleaned everything up. Still, a 40-50 hp gain would be nice, I'm just not sure I would want my car to be that loud. I would need to add some resonators and definitely running cats.

I modified my airboxes last night. It actually changed the responsiveness of the car. I was surprised to say the least. I'm looking for some long tubes. I really want to find a used set.

It went with the truck. If you need help putting together a tune let me know. PM me and I can walk you through the basics. Our trucks are a bit fickle when it comes to tuning.

I've got longtubes and a tune. I think the car sounds great. Don't have pre or post dyno, though.
EDIT: I still have the stock resonator on, and it's stock all the way back. longtubes got rid of the primary cats, I replaced the secondaries with 200 cell cats.

2007 E63
- My impressions are a little different than others... I will first off say that I have a wife & 2 kids and use the E63 as a daily driver. I went with the ARH longtubes with custom OE Tuning dyno tune... Made 470whp (with CATS) on a tough dyno (that's all relative). I first had the car with straight pipes (no cats) running through the ARH X-Pipe into the stock resonator and exhaust. Within 2 minutes of start-up my neighbors came to my garage complaining of the noise. It basically sounded like NASCAR...awesome! but not for the neighbors. So I put on the High Flow CATS...still loud...then I changed to stock E55 exhaust and added small resonators. At this point, it hit the sweet spot of no drone and the wife didn't really notice it at start-up. My impressions of driving it with longtubes and custom tune is that is goes like stink...ESP coming on all the time. However, I felt as though I lost a little bit down low around (2500RPM) but gained a ton up top. Within a couple thousand miles I had to take the whole system off to SMOG the car in California. It remains that way now. Sitting in my garage.
Also,.. at the time of tuning, Jeremy (OE Tuning) noticed that I had some small vacuum leak and the car wasn't exactly smooth at idle... I just now got around to having both my intake manifold and air flow sensors replaced (at a cost of $6K - aftermarket warranty) The car runs better than ever now ...stock! Pulls like a freight train ..(this coming from both a stage 1 and stage 2 headers tune). There has been a lot of talk about performance gains from tunes and how "healthy" cars are before a tune... I can now say, with confidence, that it is crucial to make sure your car is running correctly before tuning, if not, you won't get the most out of it!
Cheers
