Just got this code...any ideas? Check engine light...

Got a check engine light on the way home. Ran my PLX OBDII device scanner:

P0456 - Powertrain
Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (very small leak).

Any experiences on what could cause this? Checked the gas cap and it's tight. I never fill up, always 3/4 tops.

How to fix?

Thank you for feedback..

Sounds like a purge valve... do you have a strong fuel smell or gas pile up inside the cabin? If not, my guess would be a bad purge valve. Not expensive and labor shouldn't be long...

Others may have different experiences ... I know this was a big issue with the fuel sending issue.

That is the code I had and check engine. Fuel leak was the culprit.

You will start to smell fuel soon if you already don't. Lift up the back seat and open the compartment where the fuel pump is on each side and check if there's a leak

No smell yet.

Checked for leaks and nothing.

Is there a possibility that it's the purge valve gone bad?

If it is the fuel unit, is this covered by the recall/Mercedes if I take her to the dealer?

i just had that code as well. I pulled up the rear seat and checked the pumps. no leak and no smell. checked the fuel cap. all good. reset the light and has not been back. Check the ring on your fuel cap to make sure it is not torn.

How did you reset the light? Pulled negative terminal? On a 2013 GLK with the backup battery do I need to disconnect both terminals?
