Weird Choking problem

i have a '06 E55. recently i realized that on the first gear or on the roll, if I step on the gas all the way, it chokes a little and then take off. almost like it is not getting enough air or something. How can I troubleshoot this? I recently changed the airfilters but I bought them from autozone - i dont remember the brand.

Check the air filters and the intake first

I understand checking the filters but what else is to check on the intake?

Also - for this car, what filters do you guys suggest?

Stock, k and n or green filters

Check that the intake is on right. Check that the snorkels are on right. Check that the air boxes are fully screwed since you changed the filters.

Was it sputtering before you installed the autozone units?

Sad thing is I dont remember. I would say no.

The thing is I have been drooling over the FTP Intakes but I am not ready to do the 82mm TB upgrade yet. I kinda wanted to do this upgrade together as I read somewhere that if I get the FTP Intake for stock TB, it is very hard to get a matching Y pipe after upgrading the TB to 82mm.

I wanted to upgrade the SC pulley first then upgrade the intake and TB then tune. is this a good approach?

or should I just upgrade the Intakes and SC and worry about the 82mm TB later? if so, what is a good size SC Pulley to go to from stock?

man , this thread certainly took a different direction.

Assuming everything is connected as it should be, I would pull the air filters completely & take a quick ride around the block, see if you can tie this problem to the filter. Similarly, if you still have the filters you replaced, just pop them back in & test.

Other longer shots: Cracks in the supercharger pulley? How is drive belt?

If they are cheap filters, I wonder if they have collapsed. We have seen that on other cars around here.

Search for "sneaky ECU reset". give that a try. You're not saying if you have a CEL, but if you do, reset it.
