Will changing tire sizes throw off the computer

So if I go up in size of tire or rims, will the computer throw any errors messages or affect anything?

I'm looking at go with bigger rear size and I was told by a shop that they can't install any other than factory sizes on my car because it will throw off the computer and they don't want to have to fix anything they might break.

Is this true?

I have an E55

Thanks

It will throw things off if you have a 4Matic. Your car is not a 4Matic so there should not be any problem with staggered front to rear tire sizing.

I don't believe its an issue as long as the front and back are proportionally the same -- i want to say within 2% of each other and your all set for non 4matic do a search in this forum and verify my response but i have read it in here before

If the front & rear are off too much (not sure of %) then cruise control goes insane

Right now all I want to do is go to a 275 rear on the stock rim.

Would that throw it off? No right??

Stock 265/35-18 to a 275/35-18? Negligible difference and the computer will not care.

That's what I thought but a tire shop I went to refused to mount them.

Go to a different tire shop. That one sucks.

I actually did and got everything mounted. I'm loving these Michelin AS3s so far!

Those AS3's are the best. Running them on my C and E. Terrific results over many miles in all kinds of weather.
