Hahaha, that's a good analogy. Entering a destination with the OEM NAV is so cumbersome. And I think these two are really only PNP if you have the non-HK sound system. If you have the HK you gotta buy an aftermarket amp. But this upgrade would transform our W211's to modern day tech. Pretty cool stuff.

"Using the fiber optic bypass cables allows you to connect the sound output from the Avant-2 to the front left, front right, rear left, and rear right channels. The upgraded audio options in these cars however have many more channels and if you want to use all of them it will require the installation of an aftermarket amp, in this situation its a good idea to employ the help of a good car audio installer." found here: https://avinusa.com/mercedes-benz-e-...on-system.html

I think the bmw forum reviews like the one here are better telling.... http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...-System-Thread Look about half way down, to "Doru's" post... he's no newbie with 3300 posts. Same with "Arkum" with 200 posts.

it literally just came out maybe two weeks ago, so they probably have not gotten around to updating all of their verbiage.

Ahh, good call! This seems like a no brainier then, unless you think they're about to come out with a quod-core unit soon?

Now that I've essentially dropped a new motor in the beast I don't plan on selling anytime soon so it would be nice to bring the nav and audio up to date. I'll be keeping tabs to see if this is the solution we've been waiting for.

Here's another interesting thread on this topic going on right now in w211

Hey everyone, I just got done looking at the MOST interface on the AVIN website and it no longer shows that the MOST interface supports the W211. It did a few weeks ago but not anymore. I shot them an email asking them what happened and I'm waiting for them to reply. Looks suspect to me. Just when you get your hopes up. Damn these manufacturers!

Just like you guys, after spending a lot of time trying to find a decent head-unit solution, one that can work with a modern phone, I gave up and build a great phone mount that give me everything I need!
- The mount if from PanaVise http://www.panavise.com/pdf_indash/75128-403.pdf
- I also added a , in place of my old iPod to receive the Bluetooth audio from the Phone
- I use the clamp from an old car mount for the phone holder itself.
- Add a simple car charger with a short cable.

I use a Mountek magnetic phone mount. The flat end inserts into the CD slot, then you twist a knob to spread it out, locking it in to place. The mount part is roughly a 2"x2" magnetic square. The downside is that you have to add a thin metal plate to your phone (that doesn't bother me). Attaching/removing is super easy as it's just magnetic. It's a really strong magnet, too.

dang-it!! I wish I bought the 6 plus, not the 6.
This solution is so much cheaper than upgrading the head unit to an android running device, bypassing the amp, buying a new amp, and paying monthly hotspot data fees.
edit: I forgot about bluetooth... One would still have to upgrade to get hands free with this setup. Parrot's like what 200 bucks?

I am also surprised people aren't jumping on the deal. The e55 hu technology is horrendous and the navi reminds me of when vhs was popular. This new avin hu, if pnp, is the answer to add such a better driving experience into this car. Once I hear of some reviews I may remove my aftermarket Kenwood for the more oem look, with the android interface.

Whatever you do do not buy Dynavin. I had one of those Dynavin units in my old BMW and interface sucked. It was slow, unresponsive, maps were bahh and installation was pain in the ***. Give a try to Avin I guess.

Ntg2.5 is the latest Mercedes head unit that will work in W211.
The latest android head units look really nice. If I didn't already have ntg2.5 conversion then I'd upgrade to one of them.

NTG2.5 is the latest version, correct. I wasn't trying to say he needs a 4.5 in his W211. I was trying to explain that MB does have a very nice, up to date and modern COMAND right now. But that would mean a new car.
