My game plan is slightly different from yours, I order way ahead of time so I don't have to waste time on the waiting list. That's why I drove the SL500 while waiting for the E55 from 2002-2003; sold the SL last summer currently driving the E55 waiting to check out the E60 M5. I find the capital lost much less than the lease payment plus opportunity cost.

Of course, a totally different ball game for those who lease.

The only difference now is that I may not sell the E55 for the M5 due to the looks of the car. I mean, I haven't even got my act together to test drive the 545i!

I just realized how shallow I am, before Bangle, I could not imagine an ugly look car could turn me off so much.

However, MB does target a different audience. While taking the G to replace burned fog. My lovely wife decided to take a walk around the dealership (last time it happened, she came back with a SLK).

To my bad luck, she spotted a spanking new white fully loaded CLK cabrio. For next 2 days, all I got was a constant naggin on how good she would look in a CLK.

I purposely delayed going down at dealership for 2 days. Offered her my M3 (which I do not allow her to touch anymore after killing the clutch and burnt the battery). I finally got a heart breaking call from her. HER EXACT COMMENT WAS " Your M3 is too rough for me. I am dizzy from driving the car and bounce up and down too many times. I am going to throw up in your car".

To my wife, MB is king. She like the luxury car feel, the smooth ride, and excellent interior.

Not to bash MB. I just never liked MB's definition of a luxury car. I know my previous post on my hate for my E55 draw a huge response from this board.

But I just like BMW better.

BTW, I just sold the M3 and under wife command bought a new firemist CLK320 Cabrio last thursday. Will have picture soon.

One more thing. I thought the buttons on the E55 was too many and confusing. The ones on CLK is even worse. more buttons, and much smaller one too.

I am already missing my M3. But have to trade it in because wife states that we don't need two coupe at home, and my M5 is less than a year away now. No need to take additional depreciation hit.

But I do hate the Z4, 7, and the 6. (although I do like the 6 cabrio).

There is nothing normal about an abnormal sound coming from the engine of a $80k car at roughly 2,000 miles. You dealer is full of it. If they tell you stalling is normal would you accept that as well? That chirp is a joke! I stand by my statement.

MB builds pretty good cars, but they are not without flaws. My wife likes the ride of my MB better than my Porsche Turbo...I am certainly not selling it because of that!

 

sorry for mis-understanding my response. I am not happy with the dealer response. i am not questioning your statement. I haven't had the time to address that issue yet.

I had super charged my car before, and i do know the chirping is not normal. But don't think my mother would argue sucessfully at dealer since she brought the car in service for me.

 

M3 too BOUNCY??? TIME TO GET A NEW WIFE MAN! A wife that doesn't know how to drive stick? DEFINITELY time to get a new wife. Trade her in for another M3... Can you guys explain the chirp from the s/c? It's not that sound from that Cobra vs. E55 vid is it? (I'm guessing it's not because if it was that sound, I sure as hell wouldn't be complaining.)

dude, i was a dumba$$ college kid in my last year of undergrad. I did not know that i would need a pre-nup. hey, i can't remember how i got married. within a period of 1 week, i met my wife, got married, and within 2 months, she got pregnant.

heck, my entire last year in undergrad is a total haze.
