E55 prices

What do you guys think a used E-55 (2003) should go for with only 6000 miles? It is pewter over charcoal with everything except Distronic and tire pressure monitor. Of course Nav was not available that year so it doesnt have that either. You name it, it has everything else though, Parktronic, Keyless Go Pan roof w/ solar cell , Act Vent Seats w/ drive dyanmic,CD changer, Electr trunk even side roller blinds (rare for an 03')
I thin I am close to closing the deal but I don't want to pay too much.
Thanks

That's a very good question. I was thinking of getting an '03 E55 myself, but according to most sources, they've dropped very little, if at all. I spoke to a dealership in Texas on Thursday, and they told me they were asking $80k for one -- dealership pricing is, of course, high on used cars. Having said all of that, I actually have no clue, so don't take my word as any sort of solid basis for making a decision.

What price are you being currently offered and with what options?

He's offering me the car for $82,000. By the way, I forgot to mention that the car comes with the factory hands free phone system as well (V60 phone included too). He said it stickered at around 89,000 last june. Believe it or not I actually even found a complete W211 Command Navigation system as well. So I am thinking of buying that & having it installed in the car. Multiple sources have told me that it should work fine as most of the wiring already exists in the car. It would just need the fiber optic "loop" reprogrammed. What do you think? If I can get him down to 78-79 thousand, I might just do it. The car is gorgeous!

What concerns me is the resale value of the '02 E55. Yes, I know, the W211 battered the heck out of the resale value of the W210 E55s, but nevertheless, I keep wondering whether in a year or so, '03 E55's will be going for mid-to-high 50's. And when a new W211 E55 and a used W211 E55 is only $7,000 apart, I'd just rather get the new one -- customized with Nav, the way I like it.

No doubt! Unless I can get at least 10 grand off of original MSRP, I won't do the deal. BUT, dont forget... He didn't pay MSRP. Few people do! HE probably paid 3-5 grand over. I doubt that any 03' W211 will go for anywhere in the high 50's in another year when the 05's are out! maybe the very low 70's.

I sent you a PM with my dealer's information. Unlike Southern California, I think the market out here in the east is very different. My dealer's selling for MSRP, as long as you've got a deposit down. I don't think you'll be waiting very long for your car, either, FWIW.

Fiscal Neo Con Express
hey guys,

the car sounds great but.....
with such a small difference in the price you might be
safer going new. plus i'm not sure i would want anyone
digging around in my dash trying to install the command.
i don't think you will see a significant dip in prices until the
new M5 shows up(late 04 early 05). right now MB has the market all to themselves.
good luck with your shopping.

I'm having some problems with Command as it is. Frightens me to think how it would be if someone installed it post factory. The price doesn't sound too bad as a starting point. In your position, if you think you like the car you should just stay calm and try your best to work him down. Say what you want about depreciation and resale values and all that. You're better off putting that aside and going in with the thought that these people are all lying, thieving weasels who are making a huge profit off you with the price they are quoting.

Actually...to reply to Dr. Chill, I really could use command. I have a C320 with command currently and the thought of upgrading to an E-55 yet having to open up my Thomas Guide every time I go to an appointment doesn't sit well with me. Neither does the idea of shelling out 92 grand for a new E-55 with all of the equipment I like on it.
To Respond to Eddie C's comments...
This guy has a ton of dough. This is his fourth car (it's a spare vehicle to his existing spare car) He saw it at his local dealer while driving by and just walked in & traded in his M5 and added the cash necessary to make up the difference. After 6 months he realized he liked a stick better so he's selling it. He is taking his sweet time though. He listed it on e-bay twice. both times the auction topped out at 77-78 grand without it triggering his reserve. So we all see what the nation wide market will bare on this car yet he thinks he can get more. Meanwhile, I am just sitting back & waiting hoping the deal will come to me rather than the other way around.

Oh, sorry. I just assumed you were buying from a dealership. As for the Command and getting what you want, I totally agree. It's very tough to do when you're anxious and desire something so much as a great car, but one should think most of all of getting exactly what they want if possible, even if it means waiting a while.

I was trying out the Build Your Own option on the MBUSA web site and I was just overwhelmed with the available options for the E55. My question is that what are the most popular options people get (or may be the most popular options that the dealers get?) and usually how much would the options cost?

And alos, do anyone mind letting us know the price that you paid for the E55 out the door (approximately).

Thanks

>90% of people who have bought new E55's up until now have paid MSRP (since almost all have been pre-ordered).
All the option prices are included at the MBUSA website. Just select the options you want and the price is calculated (and that's the price you'll pay if you order one right now).

Now you can see why I want to purchase an 03'. Especially when considering that the 03' I might buy is a desirable color combo (Pewter over charcoal) and has every available option that year except for distronic and tire pressure monitor (even rear side roller blinds & built in phone) I think I should go for it if I can land that car anywhere near 79-80 grand! I can even arrange to lease the car through a private leasing company with no problem because it's still practically new
What do you guys think? Does it sound like a good deal? The car stickered at 89,000 new. It only has 6K miles
Let me know your opinion

So options plus tax and all the registration fees will make the price go between $88,000 to $95,000.

Lots of green paper....

I just meant for out the door price it would probably go between $88,000 to $95,000 depending on options. Does it sound right? or may be you can get a lower price or it should be a lot higher.

****:
No.. What I meant was that the car, fully optioned the way it comes stickered at about $89,000 including gas guzzler and destination. Most dealers are selling E-55's for order at sticker price. In other words, if I felt like going into my local dealer & placing a deposit, they would order me a car for approx 3-5 month wait and charge me just whatever sticker is (don't forget that they have about a 7-8% profit margin). So... If this car that I am interested in went for 89 grand new, then what I am asking everyone is what should it go for 8 months later with 6000 miles on it? Any opinions? Does 78-79 grand seem fair or unrealistic?
Let me know

I see, I miss understood you. I think 78-79 grand seems pretty fair. I am sure you will have more bargaining power for the 03' E55. I think negotiation is the key for used car, new cars will be difficult.

Good luck.

I hear you loud & clear ****! I just wish the seller saw it our way too. He claims he has a few people near his home in Northern CA that are looking into the car. If he doesn't sell to one of them, I bet he will sell to me. For a guy worth as much as he is, I am surprised he doesn't just bite the bullet and relent on the grand that we're apart! I don't want to go any higher considering I want to pay to have Navigation from the 04 models installed which promises to cost me about 3 grand. Like this, I am into the car for 82 grand total for a savings of about 10 grand off new MSRP for the same equipped car.
