CEL after header install *help*

I just had EC mid length headers installed and even after the flash I am still throwing a CEL. P0141/P0161 are the codes. I noticed when I popped open the hood that the O2 sensor on the header is in. The second O2 sensor is not in there. They are in the box with the stock headers.

Should those second O2 seniors be in there also or is normal to not put them back in? Any information is appreciated.

Tell your tuner to turn off the rear O2 sensors

I'm going to have my installer put the rear back in. If I don't put them back in wouldn't it cause some type of damage to the engine?

they will not cause damage to the engine but the ec tune needs them to be installed for the check engine light to stay off. or you can have the monitor disabled with a star. they are only used for emissions to monitor the efficiency of the primary cats.

Or you can get a set of 90 degree extenders from Bruce. Ever since I got those and had the wiring for the secondary O2's soldered in no secondary CEL's.

Agreed, go with the 90 degree extenders.
Keep in mind, you'll have to take care of the readiness prior to an inspection. This can be done through das.

OP, how do you like your new headers?

Both upstream & downstream o2's are still installed on my car. I went to Eurocharged Toronto and got my car dyno'd. During that time, they turned mine off. I havent had any issues since.

I'm just curious what I need to do when inspection is due.

The sec O2 can be turned off via star or tuning, when inspected they will see they are not working

I went from tune/pulley dyno tune which ran very strong to the box header tune. I feel the top end power more than anything else. I still need to give it time to adapt.

All 4 sensors should be in place, then reset your ECU to reset fuel trims, and then install a tune to get the most out of them.

No need to code out the rears, only if you remove cats/

If the tuner turns off via his tune, you will fail emissions and it will show not ready. It is best to disable via star in the ECU. This method will allow the rear 02's to be "ready" and will show that during emissions and not raise any flags.

Thanks for the old thread bump. I never knew about this product. Looks like a great solution when STAR is unavailable.
