Single pass intercooler mod worth it?
I'm in the process of swapping a 06 cls 113k in to my c43 so I obviously need to build a charge air coolant system. I'm going to do a trunk tank and I allready have a killer chiller for it as well as 2 Bosch 010 pumps and a ml hybrid battery coolant tank. The supercharger is already removed. Is it worth converting the intercooler to a single pass with 3/4" fittings? It has the m273 throttle body, 1 5/8" mid length headers and I may go with the 77mm clutched pulley or a 180 crank. It's going to be a street car with occasional drag strip use.
What would the people who have been there do if they were starting from scratch? Thoughts, suggestions?

This place is a joke.
I did it to mine, with the 3/4" fittings and dual Bosch pumps, and wrapped the core in heat insulation. Saw no real difference, maybe fast(er) recovery times but still climbs to 160F full throttle pass on a hot day.

Everyday use helps with recovery. Track use is more noticeable if you are using ice between runs. I noticed it cooled off quicker with the ice and held lower temps (IAT) while staging.

EREBUS
The tank I would keep in the loop on the street with the KC. At the track I would fill it with ice. At least, that's my current plan.

I also modified mine with 3/4" fittings and a single pass core. I haven't tested it without meth yet to see how hot it gets, but recovery does seem much faster after a pull.

So charge air temps still jump up to around the same as before making it a single pass? I wonder if the quicker recovery times are just due to the higher flow of the 3/4 fittings? What if it was left a 3 pass and just the fittings and hoses/pipes were upgraded? I would "think" it may have more even cooling/water flow across the core. Single pass "could" have areas with little to no water flow but who knows. Seems like meth though is the only way to get these iat's in check
