Spare Tire

there is a compartment under the trunk ---look harder there is a spare

Really? That is good news. But I thought I saw one with Conti's which are not run flat.
E320's and E500's have a spare...the E55 has no spare as the car has "run flat" tires. Many have purchased a cheap wheel and tire combo for a spare to put in the empty well. BTW, the car still has a jack.

Whoops! The dealer actually told me that the tires were "run flat" and now that you mention it....I realize that they definitely are not "run flats". One thing for sure is that my spare tire well is empty...
If run flats were available, could one replace the stock with them? What are the cons?
Trust me, from experience I know there is no spare and these are definitely not run-flats.

They said towing is not covered since a flat is a roadside hazard and is not under warranty.
My Ford coverage includes any towing, flat repair, spare tire changing, gas etc.
Send a letter or email to MBUSA if you have not. THAT IS AWFUL!
Chill -
What size wheel/tire are you using for your spare ? Does it fit underneath the cover ?
WHAT THE F_CK! THE DAMN TOWING IS NOT COVERED UNDER ROADSIDE EMERGENCY. THAT IS STUPID AS HELL! I THOUGHT TOWING IS COVERED NO MATTER WHAT THE EMERGENCY.

Roadside assistance is free but towing for non warranty items is not. Maybe I should trade the E55 for a 2005 Mustang GT.
I confirmed this with MBUSA when I called to complain. MB will send a roadside asst to come fix the flat with their cannister, change the tire, or arrange for a tow. The tow, however will be at owner's expense unless it is a tire warranty issue.
Or am I missing the point?
