some cosmetic and engine modifications

When I had AUTOWERKS DIRECT install my new RENNtech steering wheel, I also had a few other things done.

The biggest modification they did was the RENNtech chip/pulley upgrade. I felt better going with a product that was warrantied and close to home in case I ever had any problems. That was one of the biggest reasons why I decided to go with the RENNtech upgrade. You can really tell the difference in power. I have to be even more gentle on the throttle now because just a minor tap and the car just zooms.

I also did some cosmetic mods. The first one I did that I did myself easily was replacing the hood star with the AMG badge. It was real easy and the AMG hood badge is of a very nice quality. If you see and feel it in person you can tell that it is not some dinky flat hood badge. It is not completely smooth and is textured according to the images.

The next mod I did was replace the front bumper strips with the euro ones. This removes the ugly (in my opinion) orange light. It gives the car a more clean, streamlined appearance.

The next cosmetic modification AUTOWERKS DIRECT did for me. They installed the RENNtech rear spoiler. It is not too large and makes the car look just a little meaner.

And for the last one, I installed the AMG illuminated door sills. I actually bought these from Rave E55. I'm not sure where he got them, but they were the OEM AMG illuminated door sills. What's nice is that they are on all four doors, not just the front ones. They came with all parts necessary to make it plug and play. No splicing required. I think he may have gotten them directly from AMG, not sure though. Or Steve (aka MBenzNL) may have helped him purchase them. In any case, the installation was not easy, but AUTOWERKS DIRECT did a great job.

That's all I'm doing to the car... for now.

I don't know if your local dealer will be able to get it for you since it is a European part and probably not available in America.

I would e-mail Steve aka MBenzNL about it. His e-mail is:

s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com

He is known as the Euro Pimp.

Man, it seems like just yesterday you were anxiously awaiting delivery and you've already made some great mods, T-bone.

Aw, that is just sweet modding there! If I had a choice of anything of doing one of what you had done, I'd go with the rear spoiler.

Excellent mods t-bone

How much $$ did they charge you for the illuminated door sills... also, was it a flat fee, or was it dollars/hour... if hourly, how many hours did they charge you for?

thanks - and the car looks great!

Outstanding choices, T-Bone.
I've been considering the door sills, too. Nice photos.

I took a tip from someone here and got the sport grill from Performance Products (around $240) and I've been very happy with it. Easy install. Geat quality.
Looks great with the AMG flat badge.

BTW, where did you get your badge? Price?
I don't think I've seen one with texture on it.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

I feel these small changes make the car a little more refined without going overboard.

M6toE55:
The illuminated door sills took about 5-6 hours to install. They charged by the hour. However, it was their first time doing it so I'm sure it will take much less time.

I believe AUTOWERKS DIRECT can do it quicker now though since they've had experience doing mine. And it seems that they may even be able to get the door sills for you too. Give them a call.

AlBoston:
About the chirping, yes I do still have it. I don't mind it though. It just happens when I get jumpy with the throttle and the cars jumps. But going smoothly, I don't have any chirp.

amg55:
About the AMG badge, if you want more information, PM or e-mail me. I don't want to have this thread deleted. I can say it's not cheap, but it's worth it.

T-bone, that steering wheel is thicker, but is it less wide?

Do you mean is the diameter smaller?

I can't check anymore because I had to give them my stock steering wheel. I can measure the diameter later tonight though.
