IC Pump Upgrade - Cost to Install

I bought a Fabtech (Johnson CM30 as it happens) IC pump and have heard some bad things about how long they last. Has anyone changed their stock unit out? Fabtech seems to promise much better performance, but when I asked for an estimate to replace the stock pump from a local independent shop (TGA), I was floored when they quoted me 8.5 hours!!!! $1,105 to replace this pump?

They also quoted 4.5 hours of labor to replace the crankshaft and idler pulleys, for a mere $585.00.

Have I fallen and bumped my head, or are these reasonable?

Thanks!

Maybe they think you mean the water pump? Id say it would take you 2 hours, with plenty of fat for mistakes and double ups. I'd confirm they know what you mean.
