how many hours for this work?

Ive got more work needed on the 55, my local mechanic didnt seem very scientific when quoted for the hours it would take.

Can you give me an idea of hours work for the following jobs,

Job 1
Replace X2 New Air Shocks
Replace Control Arms
Replace Upper Ball Joints
Replace steering knuckle
Replace inner and outer front wheel bearings

Job 2
Split SC cooling and wire SC pump to constant

Job 3
Pull fan shroud, replace all four belt pulley bearings,
Pull SC pulley, torque and gap correctly, reinstall

Job 4
Split trans cooling, add uprated trans cooler, flush and replace fluid

Job 5
Replace all spark plugs

I can do some of this myself but I'm very tight on time, work is hectic, will pick and choose depending on the hours.

Thanks

I'd definitely do Job #2 and Job #3 at the same time since you're in there.
Not sure how long it takes to open remove the radiator shroud, but I was able to do the jobs in about 2 hours without removing the shroud.

I drove the car up onto ramps, then removed the belly pan, and removed the two engine mount bolts from below. Then with a floor jack, I carefully lifted the engine about an INCH just enough to allow an impact socket over the SC pulley bolt. Then remove SC belt. Then strap the pulley so it doesn't spin, and remove in a few seconds.

Then remove all of the other pulleys, replace bearings, and reverse installation.

I can promise you that is going to be a fat bill if you have a real shop doing the work.

Thanks, the work would be done by a garage that works on Euro cars not only Benz and no only AMG, they have STAR, see a few AMG's come through.

I'll share what i was quoted,

Fit New Front Air Shocks X2
Fit Steering Knuckle X1
Fit Mid Ball Joint X2
Fit Upper Ball Joint X2
Fit Control Arms X2
Fit Front Inner and Outer Wheel Bearings X4

Quoted 8 Hours

Trans Fluid Change / Cooler Flush
Fit New Trans Cooler

Quoted 2 Hours

Replace Spark Plugs

Quotes 2 Hours

Those times seem fair. I don't think I could do the plugs in 2 hrs if my life depended on it

I've seen m113 plugs on a r129 done in 8min. E55's can be done in 15-20min for any experienced mb tech. Torquing Is the most time consuming step. Job typically pays 2-3 hours depending on the shop.

Growing up around domestics, plugs on e55's are a walk in the park. It's, a air cleaner, 8 torx bolts and 16 boots. Not a big deal

+1
The 129 is insanely easy. The 199 however...takes days.

I'd to plugs for 200 bucks in a heart beat. It will take longer then 8 minutes.
