Exclamation Arnott Strut Replacement

Drive: 2008 E63.

Recently changed my front left strut with an arnott remanufactured. Some of the things I noticed after changing them and I have no clue why. I believe the mechanic just changed it and nothing else.

1) I feel the road way more now. Like I feel like it's out of balance and even the smallest bumps I can feel. Not smooth at all. Definately more different than when I had OEM.

2) Very strong creaky noises when I turn the wheel fully left or right to make a sharp turn. You hear small thumps when turning but rarely when going straight. Maybe sway bar links?

Let me know please.

Not sure about your first issue, but I am familiar with the second.

Replaced both front struts with Arnotts and the front end started creaking on full turns shortly after. Drove me crazy!! The dealer looked at it a couple of times but couldn't find the problem. Replaced control arms & ball joints - noise still there!!

I put the car on jack stands, removed the wheels and had a helper turning the steering wheel while I was underneath trying to find it. Well, it turns out that the shaft is binding on the strut itself.

I loosened the dust boot and sprayed the inner shaft with Wurth HHS lubricant. You can reuse the band strap on the boot if you're careful.

Put it back together and within a few miles, the creaks were mostly gone. After a few days, no more noise at all!!

Good luck!

My front OEM struts were replaced with Arnotts 2 months ago and now the front end rattles like crazy! Everything is tight, the only possible culprit is Arnott. They are warrantying them so we'll see...

I read somewhere where that isn't recommended. It my have been the arnott site. I guess they work alittle different than OEM.

He means "per MB". They recommend replacing in pairs at or above 90k. This actually used to be 50k.

I replaced both front struts on my CLS55 with the dealer Bilstein/Thyssen-Krupp , and the ride is now as smooth as a brand new 2015 S Coupe I drove a few months ago (with the new ABC system that rides like a cloud).

I wasn't impressed with Arnott for AMG replacement at all, after looking over their quality and pricing compared to a MB strut.

Adding feedback. Replaced passenger side strut on my 06 in July and a month later, started getting a popping sound when turning/maneuvering at slow speeds (think parking lot situations). Verified everything else was legit and contacted vendor for replacement strut. Popped the replacement in and noise is completely gone. We'll see how long this unit lasts.
When the OE strut went in July, the ride height dropped a good inch in that corner yet it was still completely quiet. Opt for OE if price is close enough.
