E63 Bumper install questions on E55

Hi Guys,

finally got my bumper painted and installing an E63 bumper on an '05 E55

1) Attempting to install the E55 bumper internals (the foam/support) into the E63 bumper shell, but none of it fits, so I could install just the E63 bumper without that, but it would be pretty “soft” to the touch.

2) There is no provision for the turn signals on the side, do you generally just drop those ?

3) The headlight washers are blocked by the new bumper once the pop out about 1/2 inch, they hit the new bumper, have others just not used them ?

Hmm, I bought the bumper for Gary Suvineer, and I would have assumed the internals came with the bumper, I'm checking with him if thats some additional parts I need to purchase.

With the E63 internals, is it bolt on to and E55 ?

Cheers
Grant

No, Gary does not supply the internals. Some people opt to run without them instead of buying them.

Here is a link to the front end conversion thread, with the listing of recommended parts:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ml#post5310580

I'm getting ready to order all of these parts in the next week or so.

yeah, Gary told me what to order, I brain farted

Thanks

Looks like I'll need

2118850516 Bumper reinforcement left - $16
2118850616 Bumper reinforcement right - $16

211-887-03-27 Pull For Hood Latch $4.25 (This replaces pull on E55 hood latch, you do NOT need the entire E63 latch)
211-880-07-03 Center Inner Plastic Support $20.15
211-880-09-03 Inner Plastic Support $32.50
211-880-10-03 Inner Plastic Support $32.50

and can re-use the foam from the e55 with some trimming.

Gary didn't list the first two parts but the main thread mentions them, are they needed ?

E63 Bumper install questions on E55

My headlight washer flaps don't line up very well, and in hindsight I should have bondo'd over them as I plan to relocate the headlight washers so they spray on the front head exchanger.

If you have parking sensors then search for some of the more recent threads, and it'll give guidance for how to install (use heavy duty sealant on the SLK parking brackets).

Just move the 55 brackets over to the 63 bumper. That's what I did.

DON'T BUY ALL THAT'S ON THE LIST, you DO NOT need all of them....

You need...

Inner Plastic Support 211-880-09-03 $39.00
Inner Plastic Support 211-880-10-03 $39.00
Inner Plastic Support - Center 211-880-07-03 $23.25

....and the foam if you really want some padding but it will be fine without TRUST ME, that other stuff has nowhere to go.

The left and right brackets, between the fender and bumper on the sides are the same. The hood latch you could also get away with but it will be a little annoying opening it with the short one.

$5 for a hood latch that works as designed? I'd pay that.
