High Mileage E63s?

2008 just turned 85K - brakes been the biggest cost thus far, but that is also normal wear/tear on the car
otherwise no real issues that i can think of - biggest issue is keeping my right foot from pushing the pedal down too fast.

Sorry I did not read your post thoroughly, I ended up going with an e55 because the headbolt issues put me off, which are real. This started for me when I looked at an e63 (my original choice) that had a few check engine light codes, that I began researching..
They are nice, but I wanted a reliable four door sedan, not something that I would possibly (and knowing my luck likely) have to pull heads off. I can rebuild anything short of a transmission, worked at a shop, but I've got five other vehicles I can hot rod and did not want to mess with heads on this one
It was a very close decision for me. If you want to factor in some labor or a few grand to address the potential head bolts (pull head, change headgasket as well) then you are ok, but I was capped at 20k and no labor from myself on this car
just my 2 cents as a recent (1 month) purchaser

Armenian from Glendale here BTW. Read this thread - https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-problems.html
Misfire codes would be another one, although those could be coils.
From my understanding of the issue, it is basically guaranteed. Bad style/design head bolt head translates to uneven / poor / loosening clamping force, so the way I see it, it is just a matter of time. Perhaps if someone babied it, drove at a constant RPM, has not gotten the motor overly hot, they might see more miles before the issue. But knowing how we Armenians drive, its probably going to happen
this reminds me of the e46 m3 subframe issue (I have one), pretty much guaranteed at some point

From my reading, they changed the bolt design sometime in 2010 and on, they have the updated bolt. The least you can do is pop open a valve cover and see if your bolts are old or new?
Honestly, the e63 is a newer and better vehicle, with better overall look and parts. I have a 2004 e55 now with low miles, butit has the usual heat issues, crappy steering due to the old rack, older look.. the 63 I looked at prior to it was much better.
It was a very close call for me.. if a clean 63 came up I would have gotten that and just dealt with headbolts I suppose

'04, 42K miles, paid 20K, private party from OC. No warranty but I will do work myself.
New bosch 010 on my list as soon as I catch up on expenses (going to Armenia tomorrow to meet a wife LOL ) and an upgraded intercooler. This car is getting a high end audio system so money is already tied up in that
where do you live?

Unfortunately, I'm busy this saturday from morning onwards. If this is a continuous event every weekend, then 100% we can meet. It's a mercedes meetup or any car?

every saturday morning, 6-6:30 am, la canada theatre, its a very large meet, open to everything from Lambo's, to rat rods, check it out sometime. This saturday I am in Armenia, this would be anytime after. I live right by there and usually go out to grab a coffee and smoke a stogie

Saturday.. lets the car crowd get together have a coffee and continue with their day. People start leaving at 7:30-8. Its not a show, more like come drive your hot rod to get startbucks. There are no spectators, just people who bring their own rides.
Every Saturday. 6-6:30 am, I am there most Saturdays except for this one. Bring stogies

'08 with 86,212 mi. At 85,xxx, replaced the rearview mirror because the "Auto-Dim" feature quit working. At the same time, replaced lower control arms and tie rods. All under warranty through USAA. Brakes will be due, in the next couple thousand miles. Same with the oil change. All in all, it's been a solid car.
