Anyone retrofit the factory rear sunshade E55/E63?

Is it possible? If I have the front panel with the button in the car already, and the rear sunshade from an 07-09 E63.

Anyone know if the car is wired for it already? Does the sunshade plug in?

Is it more hassle and cost then it's worth?

Thanks in advance.

I retrofitted it once for someone. Takes about 5 hours of labor. It's def. worth it. I have it in my E55 with limo dark windows to make it a bit darker in the sun during the day. Plus when you got a lifted truck behind you it helps to keep the damn lights out of your face. If I'd be you and have some spare $$$ do it. And since you're in SD like I am I could help ya.

Jeezus 5 hours. I have the rear sunshade, and front panel with button (already installed in the car)

Is the car prewired for rear sunshade?

I am currently away for work not in SD. What is all involved?

I will be removing mine tomorrow to repair since it is stuck in the up position. I can let you know what's involved.

Yes, mercedes sells a separate harness from rear sam to the shade motor. You will need some coding done afterwards.

I haven't retrofitted one, but mine broke down halfway through my ownership of the car. Honestly, it was a pain in the *** to fix and I don't think MB really thought through the design. I would just get the rear tinted and call it a day.

This same design busted on my C300 but got it fixed under warranty.

The rear sunshade mechanism is different on my E63S, so clearly MB saw issues with the prior design.

I have one in a box brand new. If you want I'll look for it. It's from the last guy with a big mouth who never paid after he ordered it from me.

I'd love to fit one also now that I'm daily driving the E55 with baby boy in the back seat facing the back window

Hey Chris, It will help a lot. I bought a used E63 rear sunshade and switch panel. I guess I just need the harness from sunshade to rear sam, relay for the rear sam, fuse, and a quick trip to the dealer for some programing.

Right! I'm far from SD right now and I just realized I gotta do some scheduled service on my car so the luxury of rear sunshade will have to wait. I will keep you mind when I got the extra scratch for the harness.

Or maybe chris can pick it up from you if if he tackles the job soon! Thank You.

I use mine all the time. I would definitely get it done if you can make it happen. I work nights a lot as well, and my eyes are sensitive to light, so having the shade really helps with headlights from other motorists.

Hi guys i have problem with my retrofit of rear sunshade. I made wiring same as on the schematic WIS i put button on front, new relay. After that i think i just add coding to ezs. So now only one way of sun shade working (if i change polarity then works the other way) I dont have output signal on SAM socket 25 on one of the pin. Should i code something more? I change Sam with other one which was one number newer. Still same result.
