OBDII power draw question

Does anyone know if all OBDII devices draw power from our W211's even when the vehicle is off?

I'm looking to buy this: https://www.att.com/devices/zte/mobley.html

Thanks

yes they draw 750 to 2000 Mamp, they don't turn off with the car/key.

Confirmed tonight, thanks guys.... The att wifi obdII device works extremely well, however, its two small led lights are still on and it's still emitting a hotspot after the car is turned off (at least directly thereafter). I'm gonna check in an hour to see if there's some kinda of delayed power cut.

Also, I might try this if I have to: "One thing worth mentioning, I didnt realize the device will draw power when the car was turned off, so your battery will drain if you leave it in." . . . . . . "I got around that with an ODB extension lead, cut the lead to pin 16 and put a relay to it so it only powers up when the ignition is on" source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/com...es_do_you_use/

Update: OK so the ZTE Mobley is smart enough to stop drawing power (even turns off the small LED lights) once the car is off for several minutes. yahoo!

Oh I see, that is a WIFI hot spot that plugs in to your OBDII port.
I thought you were data logging or running Dash Command or log works.
Let us know how it works and how much the plan is.

Works great and connects to my Android HU 3 seconds after the HU boots up. $20 for 2GB/mo or $30 for 3GB/mo are the standard rates.

I get a 20% discount through my work. So I'm paying about $25 for 3GB per month.

So I'm actually doing both.... I've purchased an OBDII splitter so I can run the wifi on one connector (only draws power from port) and the OBDII bluetooth scanner so I can run Torque App on the HU.

That might be the case among OBDII scanners...but what I'm talking about is an OBDII device that acts as a WIFI hotspot.
