Had a fun afternoon at Laguna Seca yesterday

The AMG Private Lounge meetup was a lot of fun. Saw quite a few W211s there. I met a couple of folks from the PL board in person. I was fortunate to be one of the few to get a hot lap with Tommy Kendall in an SLS Black Series - that thing is just ridiculous! In person that car just has so much presence and on the track is a monster!

I saw five AMG wagons - four of them were the W212 facelifts. Mine was the sole W211 wagon there.

And the AMG GTS in blue is really nice (I'm still a little irked at the ipod-looking nav screen)

This was the first time I've seen the CLK GTR in person

The autocross with the CLA45 was fun. That thing is a fast little bugger!

Day coming to a close (W211s representing)...

But a heck of a parting gift!

The fact that this was a free event (and free swag) for AMG Private Lounge members is just too cool. If you aren't an AMG PL member, you should do so ASAP. I've been an Audi owner for over a decade and they don't do stuff like this. I did hear though that if your VIN is already registered by a previous owner, you won't be able to be a PL member. PL members also get 20% off the AMG Driving Academy programs. I was actually interested in signing up, but all the days are already booked here in Laguna Seca.

I was thinking my mid-life crisis car was going to be a Turbo Porsche. Now I'm seriously considering the AMG GTS. SLS Black Series is a dream car lol. Gull wing doors FTW.
