Supercharger Serviced
Before the supercharger was bolted back on my rebuilt motor I wanted to make sure it was in good condition with nothing lurking inside so took it to a supercharger specialist. Just as well since they found a couple of small pieces of hose caught inside the rotors and several chewed up fragments of rubber in the intercooler which (thankfully) in this instance served as a secondary filtration. A small section of teflon had torn off a rotor as a result and needed to be cut back and smoothed as teflon cannot be recoated. Also as expected both rear bearings had completely dried out and required re-greasing.
I just pieced together a new S/C for my car. I used the grease out of 2 new top of the line Makita skill saws for the end bearings. It's the only thing I could think of that spins that fast and is made to last for years. Kind of expensive grease, but hey, it was there and I trust it to work.

Trying to figure out whether my SC needs regreased bearings. I have 80 000 on the clock. ECU tune last 15000 miles, before that stock.
There's 120,000 miles on the clock but everything major has been replaced. Currently just running a canned Eurocharged tune.
I would definitely be regreasing your rear bearings. It's preventative maintenance that most people neglect. There is a 99% chance your bearings have completely dried out and it is just a matter of time before your supercharger will need replacing as those rear bearings are (apparently) not replaceable - although Australian member NSWEurocharged has sourced some new bearings which should be available in February/March. It has yet to be determined if they can be replaced without issues yet though...

I "almost" didn't have the supercharger opened and serviced but thought the exact same thing. No point in spending all that time and effort (and money) only to deal with problems that could have been avoided.

Anyone looking to do it theirself make sure you thoroughly clean the old grease with the brake cleaner (or whatever you use) as the new grease can react with remnants of any old grease left behind.

Yep, that would be the culprit!

That sounds like the go. I wish I'd asked what type of grease they used? The guys I took it to build their own range of superchargers in addition to being the authorised repair agent for other brands, so know what they're doing. I might get in touch with them anyway and see if they don't mind sharing what grease it was.
