Probabaly not LOL, I'm gonna drive it for a couple months and sell it for a higher price than what I got it for. It's a whole different car then what I originally wanted, but when you see a good deal you gotta do things you wouldn't really do. I'll be back soon

Good luck with the M3. I have the Cls, mate had the e55.. Cls is heavier.. He had just exhaust and headers done.. I had the 84mm pulley and tune with BWK.. We were basically neck and neck in our standing start runs... Cls has wider tyres at the back.

Did you weigh them or is this speculation?

You don't need to weight them... you can feel one car is heavier than other just buy daily driving.

I really love this in depth scientific response

Seriously though I've had both cars for almost 2 years now, the e55 (04') as a daily and the cls55 (p30) for the weekend car.

In the luxury department you can tell that the cls is superior both in terms of build quality and materials used.

When driving both, it certainly feels heavier than the e55. Oddly enough it handles better stock for stock which doesn't say much as one feels like piloting a boat in calm water while the other is like piloting a boat in rough seas

Straight line performance though, mod for mod the e55 just always felt faster than the cls

Love the looks of the CLS but the back seat space compared to the E55 was the show stopper for me. You can't go wrong with either car.

Just a few points on the main differences between them:
  • Build quality inside and materials used on CLS are better
  • Handling/ steering is better on the CLS, unless you have the update taken from the cls, which was applied on the 2006 E55
  • You can fit meatier tiers and go wider with ease on he CLS (305 10)
  • Exhaust sound is way better stock vs stock (best sounding are SL55 & CLS55, yes the parts are different)
  • CLS came with the 030 package as an option (performance package), bigger brakes, new wheels/ steering wheel and top speed delimit etc.
  • Looks vary from person to person, but i feel the CLS aged better then the E, unless you get the E 63 face lift done.
  • weight between the 2 are debatable, as options effect this, but in general the E is lighter, but not by that much.
  • Space in the rear goes to the E, but again its not like the space in the rear of the CLS is that bad
  • CLS is pretty much the last of the 55k's as it was made during 2005/06 only, only the G/SL55 got the new TB from 2007,before they were discontinued.

End of the day pick what you like

Exhaust and tune modes have no negative effects, but rather improve all round performance

Pulley on the other hand can:
A: increase wheel spin, which hampers your early gears due to increased trq
B: heat soak if you have not done cooling modes, the larger the pulley the more likely this will happen, if you monitor AIT's you will see a pullied cars go into the range of pulling timing from 60c +

I totally agree with your statement. I have my 06 E55 for almost 7 years and I know its a bit lighter than CLS55. Plus, my E55 has Pano roof that suppose to weight extra 80Lbs ! The E55 feel just lighter compare to the CLS55. But the CLS handle much better. I don't know why some say 06 E55 use the same stealing rack as CLS which handle better but my 06 E55 still feel like a boat compare to CLS. They are both great car, CLS is just more define but less practical in my opinion.

I think it's all just a matter of preference, when I was searching for either cls55 or e55 the reason I went with E besides the fact if felt lighter was the looks and more particularity. I don't think you will go wrong with both but people bashing on either car is pointless

Nobody bushing here. I just provide my thoughts since I have both of them and same year. For the look inside out, CLS55 is just better.

I'd stick with the CLS 55 , motor only 1 year production , very few made especially with 030 performance package . Better build quality, more up scale feel and look .The CLS slope style is a true bench mark in automotive design history , every auto manufacture has copied it in some form if not a direct copy . Also no one can beat the original and this car with be in style literally for decades . Slope back styling isn't going away any time soon . Theirs a new slope back 2016 Honda civic now "wow"
