CTS-V 2013 Wagon
After owning 3 AMG's (2 E55's and an S55) I bought a CTSV sedan with a manual 6 speed. Really liked it. Had that for 2 years and bought a 2013 CTSV wagon, this one with an automatic. The reason I bought the wagon was for the automatic so I could throw more power to it.
Round 1 mods were a pulley change and 100 shot. Dyno said it was 698 hp.
Round 2 was a Formato blower ported blower, ported stock heads, 102 throttle body, BTR cam and a nicer nitrous system. Dyno said 700 hp and nearly 900 on spray.
It's an awesome platform and so similar to the E55. But it handles REALLY well!

Stock manual gearbox is supposed to be good to 1,000 hp. One guy is over 1,200. He runs 1/2 mile events and his last outing was 176mph i believe. Daily drives it too.

The issue is the stock clutch. They are only good to 550-650 hp. Mine was slipping at 550 hp on drag radials so an upgrade was needed. rather than spend 2k on a clutch plus install, I decided to go with the automatic that is faster at the drag strip.

This one is built up pretty far but there are always faster ones. Here is a quick video of a group of us driving through the Tail Of The Dragon this fall. I started the video where I was getting on it coming out of a couple of corners. As you can see it will overpower the tires fairly easily under 50 mph but the Michelin PSS's do a great job of limiting tire spin and hooking back up.

Skip to 1:45 of the video. I couldn't get it to start there.

Strange. I actually test drove an 09 CTS-V the other day and wasn't wowed by it. I didn't dislike the car, but it didn't feel as planted as the E in the corcers, not did it accellorate as well. I really wanted to like the V but just couldn't quite get there.

Buy a Benz then. I have no dog in this fight. Lot's of great cars out there including the BiTurbo Benz. All I know is my car pulls over 1G in corners, has phenomenal brakes and accelerates faster than my other AMG's I've had. I would guess a new Mercedes with a tune and a few mods would be a monster!

Exact same cars with exact same performance. Only differences I know of are Navigation and rain sensing wipers standard on post 2010's, options on 2009 and 2010.
