Oil analysis results

Hi all

My 215 CL55 AMG K Burns some oil (3 liters every 6000 miles).

I cannot see any blue smoke ever, and the car runs great. I sent off my oil to millers (an oil analysis place in the UK) to check the oil when I changed it, and they came back with this:

The oil had 6800 miles on it, a lot of that was town and hard driving. The engine has 98,000 miles on it.

I am thinking my iron content looks a bit high, what do others think?

I think it looks great. What brand of oil? It may explain the higher iron content.

Thanks. It's Shell helix ultra 5w40. I refilled it with mb 229.5 oil, as that's what the garage had to hand when I did the change.

There where no visible pieces etc in the oil filter.

Blackstone does a great job of reading the actual numbers and putting them into real world terms. They pick out things like Sodium (Na) and Silicon (Si) and tell you why its there.

Also these tests are supposed to be repeated, so you can see trends.

Yes, true, but they are in the wrong country for me. Millers are well respected here and will also do ongoing analysis, so I will be sending the next sample to them as well.
