p0505 CEL code keeps coming back after reset wtf!?
so last night i randomly got a CEL , ran the code and got P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction , reset it and it went away this morning while driving it happens again, P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction, car is bone stock, and ive checked all the hoses i could possibly see and do not see anything loose or cracked...
any ideas ? only other thing is that i didnt have my gas cap tightened all the way last night, and my gas lamp flashed at me , i tightened it and everything was well.

is this what you are referring too? i did add drop in k&n's a week ago maybe something isnt right or the oil off the filters got onto a sensor ? i will check what my tps is reading right now with what my scanner and report back. im pretty sure i saw that was giving me a idle high reading the first time around which is 0507 i believe it out thank you .
Just checked my tps reading and first time it was 1.5% , seems to be around 0.7 % now , is this normal or ? havent tried the TB reset yet as i wanted to check if this seems normal.
This time (after 2 other tries) I did this..
1) key off and un-plug TB connection
2) Turn key on and leave on for several minutes.
3) Turn key off, plug TB back in.
4) push pedal down once an the turn key on pos 2
5) with key on, push pedal down once and then wait 2 minutes for TPS to re-set .
6) turn key off and then start car and look at your 3.2% TPS in drive!

i have not, not really sure where to check that, never had anything other than the intake covers off on this car.
nm, the snout is where the intakes connect to the y pipe correct?

yes there is a metal hose that goes into the sc snout and the other end of it goes to a rubber hose on the fire wall by the fuel line. chances are that rubber hose is off.

shardul, it was indeed the rubber hose on drivers side that came off the metal one pipe. added a clamp, cleared codes , seems to be idling fine now as well. thanks for the info. Did MB skimp on hose clamps or something?

glad to help
usually when the motor will move a lot due to worn out engine mounts that hose slides off. Don't worry anymore the car will idle fine now.

the hose is a part of the emissions system.
This is how you check you motor mount.
Open the hood so you can see the engine from inside the car
Put the car in drive and press the brake
Now give it some throttle and if you see the motor jump toward the passenger side then you know your mounts are bad.

not jumping but has some movement, while i have you here i have one
more question. when i am in 1st or 2nd and sometimes 3rd and slowly accelerating , then punch it, i hear a chirp from the charger area, and get a hesitation/surge in power, almost like the charger is surging and loosing boost and then trying to rebuild. Ive been doing some reading and have heard the wheel needs a shim removed, and or clutch pack replaced. belt is looking worn towards the engine side, so will be replacing it soon, but was considering saving my pennies and getting your Belt wrap kit, 3 piece ASP idler pulley and smaller s/c pulley, https://mbworld.org/forums/e55-amg-w...13-motors.html

Can anyone reiterate on this. I have this code popping up now along with a slightly low idle but I can't find the metal tube shardul is talking about.
Any pics or more specific directions would be great.

Great info, I don't get any codes. but, my idle is a little higher. Any idea what to check?
