Key Fob functions, but doesn't lock
Hi Guys, I just picked up a 2005 E55 and the lock button on the remote doesn't work. Is there a fix for this, or do I have to purchase a new key from the dealer? They want $350!

I had this issue with my only fob recently, replaced the batteries and it still was erratic in operation, then it finally would not lock the car. My main battery (in the trunk) was 6 years old so I knew it was time to replace it. I got a deal at Sams $177 on sale for an AGM replacement battery. I put the battery in and the fob works perfectly. I never had a low voltage warning. I replaced the voltage regulator and the front battery this past summer. No guarantee's here but these cars are smart and sometimes they are trying to tell us something...check your main battery in the trunk, it might be time to replace.

take your mobilephone, start your camera. look at the tip ofthe key through the camera and press the buttons. you will see the infra red flashing on your screen when pressin unlock, now press lock. If theres no infrared flash the button on the keyfob is broken. quick and easy check to diagnose if the key itsefl works or not

well there you have it. its the button thats broken or something else on the key itself. you can replace the broken button if your key is like the type on the video.
