Oil leak from front of the engine

I have a 2004 E55 and I just recently noticed since its started to get colder in the morning an oil leak from the front of the engine. There is a plate with 3 star pattern bolts on it on the front of the drivers side portion of the engine that the oil is leaking from. It's located under the oil lines that lead to the chiller. It is dripping all over the accessories belt which splashed it everywhere and made it hard to locate. What is this cover for and is it a gasket or a seal behind it that I need to replace can't find it anywhere , yes I have searched

Pictures of the small cover

you can get all the gaskets for the oil filter assembly from the dealer.

I looked on a bunch of assembly diagrams of the oil filter assembly and couldn't find the specific part that is leaking

Oil cooler gasket set will fix that. It's pretty common and pretty easy to DIY. Look around on ebay for a gasket set. They might be expensive to buy individually but I got a whole set from my hook up for $12..

My money is on one of the two seals between the cooler and filter housing has failed... If that's where your oil is coming from, that seal kit should fix the issue. The kit comes with a big seal for the filter assembly and you might need a large "specialty" socket to get it loose and removed. (I can't remember the size but its big), the oval and circle seals are for where the cooler bolts onto the filter housing. It's common for them to become brittle and crack over age.

I will order that kit and do that , if you look directly to the right of the 2 oil lines coming off of the block there is a small cover that was 3 star pattern bolts holding it onto the block. that is where the oil is coming out off. I just couldn't seem to figure out what it is am going to remove it when I get home and see what the gasket looks like and if it's in the kit, the filter assemblyand where it seals seems to be fine

Anytime. Let me now how it goes. Hopefully it's just one of those three seals.

It was a small cover that looks like it was pressed into the assembly as I went to unscrew it , it fell apart because it was cracked. Looks like I'll be taking it to the stealer ship anyways
