bearing noise from driveline
Hi guys,
Im getting a slight bearingish noise from the driveline when I give it more than quarter throttle from standstill. Otherwise I dont notice it at all.
What would be the best areas to look for this?
Im thinking the rubber isolators at each end of the driveshaft for the viewable things. Is there a bearing half way down the prop shaft? If I jack it up and turn the prop shaft I would think Id be unlikely to find anything if its an internal transmission bearing or rear diff?
It has 240,000kms thats kilometers not miles on it so around 135,000miles at a guess. So im thinking a bearing is on its way out somewhere.
I have a spare late model CLS55 transmission with half the miles so I can always chuck that in but I need to buy a new torque converter and probably do the rear main seal while im in there if I do that. And Id hate to do that and find its the rear diff or something.
