TB Install Tips?

I'm considering going to an 82mm TB but it's not clear to me if that requires a modified SC snout, an adapter plate, or both. I see the Eurocharged kit comes with both the plate and a "machined" snout, but why do you need the plate if the snout is already modified?

If I do need a snout, can that be changed with the SC still on the car? I want to avoid pulling the whole SC if possible.

You have to pull the supercharger. The modified snout is stock and machined out. So an adapter plate is needed. Most are weld ones but bolt on Tb and plates can be found. Pulling the sc is why the mod is undesirable. You can get the parts for half the price of the kits. I have asked many times about using the stock snout and have gotten now where on answers

you need to remove the supercharger in order to remove the snout. the snout has to be machined to 82mm and in doing so the sides get really thin where the gasket attaches and there is nowhere to tap holes for the 82mm tb to mount to which is why some use an adapter plate. another option is when they machine the snout then have them weld extra material around it so you can tap holes and mount the tb directly to the snout with no adapter (this way fits best). you cant use a stock sized snout with just an adapter plate to fit an 82mm tb.

82tb

Ears welded to 80mm TB machined it to 83MM extra TB mounting hole is original TB hole ,you do have to drill and tap new holes to fit ,plug and play with MB 82mm TB ,and yes have to pull S/C ,I have since upgraded to 90mm TB,and this snout was sold .

I will take a quote on having this done as well. I intended to have my fabricator do it but if a forum member can do it for less may as well keep the money in the forum.

I decided to have Shardul get a snout modified to fit the 82mm TB without an adapter plate. Now I need to know the part numbers for the throttle body (plug-and-play hopefully?) and a new OEM Y-pipe that fits the 82mm.

Anybody have those numbers handy?

For the Mercedes TB it is 2731410325 not sure about the Bosch Audi one but it requires switching pins around so not exactly plug and play.

just go on EBAY and find a TB off of pretty much any 550 series car and that should have an 82mm TB on it.

I'm thinking this and meth is my next plan. Logged today and saw IAT peak at 67c/150f. They dropped down quickly and I still had 22 deg of timing so not horrible. But I've just found out that I've broken the rear plastic clip that holds the intake piping to the throttle. So only have the top one holding it in place. So, might as well go full out and get a new throttle while I'm at it.

Having very hard time removing the snout. I removed the four bolts holding the snout and the 4 IC bolts on the bottom. Hit it with a rubber mallet and still nothing!!! Am I doing something wrong??

The inlet is held on with 5 bolts. The intercooler is also held on with silicon so will take a good pry to get it loose.

Thanks! I successfully removed the 5th lower bolt and a couple of raps with a rubber mallet did the trick. Fitting a small enough driver on the bottom bolt was a chore!

Are there more specific details about this I had not come across this necessity yet. Meanwhile I will also do my due diligence and search. I may have overlooked it knowing that I was going to cross that bridge when I got there.
