Auto-Trunk Button Doesn't Work After Battery Pull

I pulled my battery a few days ago to try and fix an issue I was having with my 2005 E55. After reconnecting, the trunk close button doesn't operate. I can open the trunk with the latch and I can open/close the trunk with the button on the driver's door but the close and the lock button on the inside of the trunk lid don't work. They light up and my 3rd brake light works so I don't think it's a wiring issue. Also seems odd that a wire would break at the exact same time I disconnect the battery..

I know some things need to be reset after a battery pull (for example, the one-touch window roll-up). Do I need to perform some reset procedure for the trunk close button to start working again?

Try to normalize the system. That happened to me once, buttons didn't work, but the driver's button didn't work either. Opened and close sunroof and windows, turn steering wheel lock to lock and it was back.

Humm, well I did that but my trunk buttons still don't work :/

Sunroof and windows have normalized, did the steering wheel lock.

Sorry, out of ideas then. Standard answer would be to connect it to a Star Diagnostic system. Maybe there's someone near you that has one and will scan it for you.

Is the button light up still? Did you remove the trunk liner and checked the connector? Fuse checked? Star Diagnosis to actuate/test button state? Fault codes read with Star Diagnosis?

Twas a wire.. There are 3 wires that go to the trunk buttons, they are wrapped together and one of the three was broken under the black wrapping. Where the trunk hinge is. Pretty simple fix.
