A lot of people drive with them everyday. I got mine a month ago and it is a better daily driver than before. Throttle response is awesome.

I had the smaller pulley on the C32 for some years, was the only car I had.. I have had the 84mm smaller pulley on my CLS55 for about a year and half and now just installed the 77mm pulley. Car runs great.

Is consensus to now use smaller SC pulleys instead of larger diameter crank pulleys?

From what i have read, yes. But then you hear those horror stories of them breaking off and wrecking havoc. Do they typically shear off because they're not properly installed?

I've been running mine daily with a 77mm clutched pulley for maybe around 8 or 9 months now, no issues.....just make sure cooling is top priority, summer can be a killer

I have the S class so the bigger h/e is not a top priority. Although I'll be doing the ic pump soon. With all these stories of the broken pulleys, is it really just a bad batch of them? Or is it the installation?

the design was updated a couple times. there really hasn't been a higher than usual failure rate since. even the stock pulley is known to let loose, so i'd recommend getting a pulley shield from latemodel21

I daily drive mine with the 77mm fixed pulley. I'm going to assume that I put more miles than most members as I drive my car for work as well and I love having the fixed pulley on there... the throttle response is so nice to have. I went with the fixed pulley originally though because I didnt want to deal with the clutched pulleys exploding. For reference I've put 30k miles on my car in the year that I've owned it.

77mm fixed on a daily? Hmm interesting, how long have you had this setup going for?

Yea it's definitely a fun daily. I've had the fixed pulley on for around 7-8 months I believe. I'm running the 77mm and two auxiliary heat exchangers. Otherwise its stock.
