black colored car- worth it to get a polish/wax

for someone who hasnt had a polish/wax on a car before, is it worth the 100-200 dollars to have it professionally done? how long does it last? does it make a large difference in the appearance on black vehicles?

thanks

do you have a garage? if you do, then it is a good idea to have a good wax and polish job, but do be careful, some guys only claim to know how to use them,
no garage? the polish and wax will not be effective for very long

Spend it on a full paint correction. It may cost you a grand but it'll last 5x's as long as the $200 wax job from some guy

I agree in getting a full paint correction. I also would finish it with a sealant. I use Klasse.
Currently I have 3 black cars. You can also layer with wax.

$100-$200 is cheap & I'd be surprised if you got any notable correction or protection in that price range.

I paid $1200 for "the works" from a reputable detailer. It was worth every penny. You get what you pay for. In my case it's lasting years because it's mostly in the garage and I'm very careful how I wash and dry it.

I always do it myself with Meguiar black wax. Do it once every 3 months should be fine. Only takes 2 hours with polish machine.

In with Charly. My cousin has a black Bimmer 535 and uses the same with awesome results that last on his daily driver. If you don't have the bucks to throw at it for a detailer then this is the way to go. Have a beer along with a few pre elbow grease Advil and get her cleaned up! That's what I do but I'm in my mid 40's so Advil is a must. ; ) Cheers!

my car isnt garaged so i guess it wont last too long but i havent had a polish wax done so im curious to how it would look. I was thinking to have it done and then use meguiars wax to maintain it. It is 100-200 dollars because its a 50% off promotion

Garaged or not, I suggest getting proper protection on your paint. At the bare minimum, use a sealant following an in-depth wash/clay/polish.

As others stated. If you're going to spend the money, have a paint correction done. Usally in the neighborhood of $1000. Have them seal it with optigloss. So far the best paint coating I've used so far. It is a paint coating that will last for years. Google it.

If you're going to do it yourself use a product called blackfire wet diamond. You won't have the results of a paint correction but it will look much better and the paint will be protected.

I did a paint correction a few years back on my black s class and these are the results. -note- back then I was using 3m products, I now use menzerna and have thrown the 3m crap in the trash.
