DashDaq help needed please
Okay, I hate to admit but I'm a bit confused on the DashDaq to ZT2 setup. Here is what I do get...
-OBDII port cable (above) to 8 pin connection on back of DashDaq... done
-O2 harness (6 pin) to ZT2 box... done
-12 pin signal connection to ZT2 box (has all the colored wires)... done
-10 pin connection to back of DashDaq... done. This is the above serial cable with the short wires coming out of it. Now, here is where I'm unsure of connection. The last cable remaining goes to the data (phone jack) port on the ZT2 box. This has a serial connection as well. Do the short wires from the 10 pin serial cable get connected to the longer signal wires from the ZT2 box? Do the male and female serial connectors go together? I doubt this because the serial screws are not long enough to hold them together.
I have looked at every manual and can't make heads or tails of what's required. This was so easy on my last car using the laptop and serial connections but now the DDaq is confusing me. Dose the ZT2 box still get wired power from the car or does the OBD port solve this? WTH am I missing here!!!
Thanks in advance!

Yes it does. Do i connect the box red to the short wire serial red? Short serial red has 12v from the dashdaq/obd connection. I believe the serial wires (again shorter wires) will be my power&ground. Chart says white is wideband at box. White box wire to white short serial wire get connected?

This may be where you would connect a ZT-3 if you wanted to monitor your other bank, or where you would connect your laptop to program parameters for a complex alarm (requires Zeitronix alarm module). That is how I trigger my meth.

Are you running Ndash and ZT2 for wideband?

Okay, I broke down and called Zeitronix. I say broke down because I had a hard time understanding the guy last time with his accent and tried to take another avenue. Nice guy regardless.
So, my thoughts about the serial cables (male and female) not connecting (because the screws that hold together don't reach) was wrong.
Setup is...
-10 pin serial cable to back of NDash
-phone jack serial connects to other serial (male and female) and phone jack side plugs to data port on ZT2 box.
-signal harness (with long wires) connect to signal port on ZT2 box. The red and black power wires on the signal harness are used for power and ground directly to the car somewhere. That powers the ZT2 box. The short wires on the serial cable end are not to be used for power, even though power is there from the OBD to NDash feed cable.
God I hope this makes sense so someone else can utilize... um mm, if they're like me anyway!

Awesome thanks! I'll worry about connections to direct feed from cars sensors later. I read an old thread about tapping power into cig lighter wiring on the E55. Obviously want key'd power. Good/best option?

where did you guy it from?? and how much

You should have two cables like this (well kind of like this). They join via 9 pin serial connection with male and female side. one side goes to Dashdaq and one side goes to the Zeitronix controller. If you have two controllers, you can add a serial connection and make a y-cable.
As for power, I think mine was powered through OBD 2 ... but I am going from memory here.

All went well with the NDash yesterday. Exhaust work was completed and I had the wideband bung installed on the driver side. My serial connection was solved with zip ties since the studs were too short to pull them together. The zt2 box is currently next to my seat track. This is a temporary spot for easy access until I confirmed operation.

Flinty glad I found your thread. I got to ask.. The 12 pin connector into the Zt2 (the sensor) job with all the coloured wires, I understand that it needs power with the red and black, but where on earth do the rest of the wires get tapped into on the ecu? Eg the TPS and boost sensor wires etc... Did you hook up a fuel pressure sensor as an extra as well into your system? Or the only extra you monitoring on your Ndash is the o2 sensor for AFR off the zt2

Go to their website the instructions are there for most of their products with wiring designations,There is a legend for all those wires,I used cam sensor wire out of ECU for rpms ,I also have TPS hard wired ,I have the boost sensor also,it really sucks you have to zip tie the serial connectors together they can include the hardware for that ?

C32, I currently have the cam sensor wired (pink wire) for real time rpm data. I plan on the tps as well because the obd data is a tad slow...i belive that's yellow. I tied into the pink wire at the fuse/ecu box on driver side under the hood next to brake booster. Honestly the rest of the obd data is quick and accurate enough for me including boost readings.
Zeitronix told me that making correct serial connections would up the kit cost so they left as is. The zip ties actually work great and no one can see it. In my mind...wtf but I'm over it now.
