Relieving fuel pressure before injector swap??
What's the best way to do it?
When I did my valve cover gaskets, I remember disconnecting the line at the rail and there wasn't much spillage. But I forgot since it's been so long.

Put a rag under where the fuel line connects to the fuel rail. Disconnect, let the small amount of fuel drain out. If you can lift the fuel rail out and tilt it towards the passenger side and it'll reduce further spillage. I just did my injectors and this is how I did mine. Worked just fine.

As I recall, yes, both surge tanks need to be removed. The fuel rail loops around and under the surge tanks on each side near the throttle body. Just a few bolts. Annoying but goes quickly.

I reused my gaskets and had no issues, I was at 58k miles when I pulled mine off. They are not the typical gasket material you're used to. They are almost metallic in nature. Very rigid. I'd inspect them and as long as they aren't beat up, they can be reused.
I do not have the torque-specs on those bolts, handy. I cannot recall what figure I used. Someone else will likely chime in.
