Water entry

Today was the second time that I have been caught driving in some heavy rain and had a water infiltration into my E55.. Anyone know what may be causing it? I have a sunroof and not the panoramic and the water entry is typically only a few drops.. It will come through the button panel above where the SOS button is near the rear view mirror..

Any ideas? Bad sun roof seal? Bad windshield seal? Clogged drain?

I had this happen as well. My sunroof leaked a bit from the front seal. I opened and closed it and the problem corrected itself

Where would I find the drain tube? Are the multiple tubes or one centralized? I've looked in the past but couldn't see one.

I would really appreciate if someone had a diagram to show where the different drain tubes are on the vehicle for us to check

You have 2 drains in your Sun roof. If you open it all the way and look at the forward most corners you will have one in each corner. Then there is a 3rd drain you can check for the window wiper cowl. It is dead center, and it drains to the passenger side under the cabin filter. Mine clogged so I tore it all apart to clean it and it also didn't help that the morons that replaced my windshield didn't reroute the hose correctly.

I'll have to pop my sunroof open tomorrow and see what's going on. I think my wiper cowl drain is good but I will check that as well. Would it be worth it to get some compressed air in there to blow the drain out?

Also, how does the water usually come in through a spot like I pictured? I figure that my head liner would be wet if it were coming through a sunroof area but it's dry.

Well you can pour a little water in the tray and see if it actually drains, if it doesn't you should be able to find several solutions on you tube and there are a couple of threads on here about it.
