I need to replace my brakepads and there are so many options. What brake pads do you guys run on your e55 and where I can I get them?

Street - stock rotors and pads (moderate dust). They are good up to 600*F
Track - two piece rotors with CarboTech XP-10 Ceramic Pads (black within two days) and Motul 660 fluid. They are good up to 2250*F.

I call the MB Dealer. 10% over cost for me. They are dirt cheap and takes 5 minutes to swap pads and 30 minutes for rotors.Originally Posted by abaykal

I rate these centric brand pads for the money I have the sport model pads formerly known as street performance pads. $100 on rockauto.com I think these will fade less than the akebono's on a track day. The coefficient of friction on these goes up the hotter they get and its pretty noticeable.

Also using centric discs no complaints. Discs are discs to me no point in spending big money on those it makes very little difference imho.

Akebono pads smooth out the initial bite unlike the stock pads which felt like an on/off switch no matter how lightly I pushed the pedal. Car feels like it has a normal hydraulic brake system.
Virtually zero brake dust and haven't had the slightest squeak.
I've been through 6 sets on various cars with the same results, including e55, e500, e320 (x2), Infiniti, Cadillac

They aren't cheap but Porterfield RS4 pads are the best street pads I've ever used.

Do replacement pads come with this new hardware? I'm looking at the Akebono pads.
